Default Snow Tires & Rims Suggestions

I currently have some 15 x 6.5 rims with 205/50/R15 all-season tires on. I want to drive my EF up the ski hill this winter so want to put on an effective snow setup but also retain some decent looks on my wheels. It sounds like a 13 or 14" rim would be a good idea (any suggested width?) and if so what size tire should I try to pair with either of these? I like the fact my current setup fills the wheel arches nicely, is there anything I can do to try and keep this with a wheel/tire close to the edge of the fender if going for a skinnier setup, can spacers or offset achieve this? Suggestions welcome, thanks!

why change your tire size at all ?
they do make snow tires in size you already have

you can 1 change out tires with your wheels
or 2 you can get steel wheels that are 15 and use the snow tires

the more rubber thats on the ground the more grip.

if you want to switch over the a skinnier tire it wont matter if its snow or not
youll have less grip because youll have less tire

switching over to a 13 or 14 inch rim means nothing either
it just changes the price of the tires
if thats what your looking for then the smaller the better as far as price goes

https://blog.tirerack.com/blog/hunte...ter-for-winter This is why you change the tire width- the contact patch principle doesn't hold when you have a lot of unpacked snowfall.

Marcos is right about the wheel size, though in my experience in the Great Lakes area, 13" tires are getting incredibly hard to find and painfully expensive, so I reeeeeeally wouldn't recommend 13s. Were it me, I'd find 14 or 15 steelies at a junkyard. Grab a tape measure; look for less positive offset (that will push the wheels farther out in the wells), 5,5 or 6 wide, and throw some 185 snow tires on it. The General Altimax Arctic has a pretty good reputation for the money.

Ok it seems I am Ok to do Quick reply.
Hello as I mentioned I am new to the site and I just purchased a 2019 Honda Civic LX and have several questions.

The first question and in line with this thread topic is winter tires. Currently my stock tire requirement for this vehicle is 215/55 16R. I have heard it said that a a less wide, with a compensating height is a better winter tire to move thru the snow with. For example, 205/60 16R would be 10mm less wide, and if my math is right about 9.5mm larger in diameter then my stock size. I was thinking this might help with a bit of lift to keep my front spoiler from plowing the higher snow that comes around on occasion.

Secondly, I was thinking of General Tires Altimax Artic 12. Any experiences with winter tires, both size and Manufacturer, around my stock size and 2019 Civic LX would be helpful.

P.S. I live outside the GTA in Ontario and do a lot of highway driving

Thanks in Advance for the time
