Check engine light on - Fuel Cap
hi,
My check engine light was on last week. I took it over to the auto zone. And the guy checked it and said it was probably my fuel cap.
He suggested I replace it. It has been a week since I replaced it with the cap he suggested. But the check engine light is still on. How long does it take for the light to go out. Also is it necessary to use honda oem fuel cap at all?
thanks

Re: Check engine light on - Fuel Cap
The amount of time it takes for the Check Engine Light to go out on it's own can vary. In your case, I would say forever.
Unfortunately, the free service the Autozone employee offered did not include actual diagnostics. That needs to be paid for.
Once you have the problem diagnosed, you can repair it. Then, after clearing the DTC, the Check Engine Light should stay out. At least, until the next malfunction.
