ok so i just saw my buddy's car yesterday for the first time since he did the motor and i must say i'm a b series guy for life but i have never had a single cam put me in the seat like that before.

would it need to get tuned because its a mini-me swap or because of the high compression?

depends on what ecu hes runing, but yes becuase of the compression he's runing, thats quite a bit highier then factory.
