Icon6 2000 si fuel injector problem

my car started lagging and shaking, the gas pedal started losing power and the check engine light came on and threw a p1399 code so it said missfire, egr blockage or something about the valves. So i put in new spark plug wires, cap and rotor, fuel filter and put in fuel system cleaner in the gas tank then unpluged the ecu and waited like ten sec. the check engine light turn off and the car stop shaking and started running fine, later on the check engine light cam back on and is idealing weird and still shakes but not that bad as before but still lags a little. Anyone knows whats wrong with it or what i should do? Please help thank you!

just clean your egr ports and see how that is. if that dont work, set the valve lash because some models are known to require the valve lash to be checked and set if necessary every 60000 miles

get some feeler gauges from auto zone. look under your hood at the stickers there. youre lookin for on that says in. .0012 and ex. .009 or something like that. i just randomly used those numbers as examples. anyway, whatever the numbers are make sure you have feeler gauges of those sizes in your set.

now pull your valve cover off. jack up the left front wheel and remove the wheel. get a 19mm 6-point socket and extension set up on your ratchet or breaker bar. turn the crank pulley bolt in a clockwise rotation only

you want to turn the motor over (that 19mm i mentioned) till the cam lobe (any one) is pointed away from the rocker arm. when the cam is furthest away from the rocker, pit the correct size feeler gauge in place under the cam ad slide it around. this requires an experienced feel to judge. you want just a little bit of drag on the feeler gauge as you slide it under the cam. if you need to adjust the lash turn the adjuster nut on the rocker and turn the screw in the nut to properly adjust. then turn the motor over and do another valve. do them all. remember the exhuaust is closest to the front of the car and the intake is in the back between the throttle body and center of the head. you really should have a good mechanic buddy there who has done this before

mann that sounds like alot of work! lol alright well i guess i can give it a try but before i do, is this what it was talking about when it said the valve clearance was out of range? so what you just told me to do is to put it back into range and correct it right?

youre correcy that this is putting it back in range. however, IF YOU SCREW THIS UP you could screw up your valves even more requiring a complete valve job (removing the head) and maybe more work will be required. keep this in mind
