So here are some photos of a modded USDM (foreground), CTR (middle), and extruded aluminum (background) rear bumper supports. The aluminum example is from a 99-04 Miata I borrowed from work that weighs in at a mere 6lbs, compared to 10lbs for the CTR and 13.5lbs for the modded USDM beam. So compared to my current beam Ill be saving 7.5lbs Plus there's the fact that it will never rust

When I feel like I'm running out of little things to do to my EP I come to this thread and expand my mind. Absolutely an inspiration to all of us EP owners.

I asked you a while ago, Evan, but you're not using POR anymore, correct? What's the new coating you're using?

This isn't just inspiration for ep's, it's pure inspiration for all of our cars. It shows with just a little hard work and some clever thinking we can truly have a work of art. It's opened my mind to my ej8 and I'm sure someone with an older civic or even accord or lude will be thinking something up. This ep is one of the many Hondas at the temple of true enthuasim for us all. Keep up the work Easy!

Thanks man! Much appreciated!!

Well on the EP I haven't painted anything on the chassis since the POR, but as far as suspension I just have things powdercoated now. On our DC5 build I had the chassis sprayed inside and out with DuPont industrial Imron coating. More durable, smoother and just all around better than POR ever could be

Thanks man! Your comment pretty much embodies the whole reason I do this (other than for my own obsessive satisfaction) lol. I always hope to inspire and encourage people to do things the right way and start with a vision. Way too many people just don't know the right and wrong way to mod a car and just know that they want the cool parts and look of the cars they catch glances of online.

That's my girlfriends car she bought it with only 11k miles! It's not pushing 40k and is still showroom condition. She's been slowly collecting parts as they surface such as TRD front lip, side skirts, oil cap and we also powdercoAted the valve cover wrinkle red. It will be a few years till it recieved any of the mods though since all our efforts are going into the DC5 build.

No doubt, this one and that dude's red CRX restoration build thread are 2 of the best on H-T!

Hello boys! Finally an update for you!

Ive got a lot of things in the works, unfortunately most of which I dont have any photos to show for, but here are a few little bits that are coming together now

Long story, but Ill share since it may be useful information for people in the future.

So I had originally bought the Buddy Club rear upper control arms for camber adjustment. I then prototyped some spherical inner pivots, and well as reinforced outer brackets since I had a serious failure with the stock part...

.

.

Original part vs the 1st gen one-off reinforced bracket

.

.

SO after dodging that bullet I ran the reinforced outer/spherical inner setup for a season to put it though the ringer to make sure the parts would hold up for our DC5 race car project. Fast forward to last summer when I was ready to swap out the spherical arms for the standard bushing. We ordered a second set of Buddy Club arms for the race car with plans to simply swap the spherical parts from the Civic for the new rubber bushing pivots that came with the new arms.

Come to find out they completely redesigned the arms, and they now have larger threaded studs, and a MUCH beefier outer bracket.

Compare the original part (top) with the redesigned part with custom reinforcements (bottom)

.

.

So this meant it wasnt as simple as swapping the inner pivots, I had to run the all-new arms in my Civic, and the old arm setup will go in the DC5 (since the turnbuckles and inner/outers are not compatable)

Even though the new outer brackets are much beefier, I decided to go ahead and reinforce them as well. As you can see my welding skills have improved over the last few years ... Also notice the beveled edges for increased clearance under bushing deflection

.

.

And last but not least, a little mod for the intake manifold since Ill be running an open breather setup off the block. There is no need for the PCV, hose, or nipple now and will be in the way of the new pushlock -10 hose. I removed the nipple, then drilled and tapped for a 3/8npt plug...

Nice work. So you still put reinforcements on BCs updated design? Still not up to SHG par?

I think they would have been ok, but it was another excuse to weld (I don't get many chances to TIG) and I can't resist having cool custom projects lol

Did a little more tweaking on the Intake manifold setup...

I had to make an order with Summit so I picked up a few more fittings to finish up what I had planned. I switched out the faded black plugs of the fuel rail with some anodized blue parts, and I also did another modification to the vaccum ports.

Unlike the PRB and PRC manifolds that have a nice 90* booster fitting point straight toward the throttle body, the RBC has that funky angled fitting that points to nowhere convenient. So just like the PCV fitting I removed it, drilled and tapped the hole then installed another 3/8 NPT plug.

.

.

And installed a 3/8 NPT to barb fitting under the plenum for a brake booster vaccum supply

Do those quick release fittings work well?

Yeah they work really well. Rolex and ALMS (now IMSA) teams use them for brake lines on the 12 and 24 hr cars for brake swaps during pit stops
