93 accord broken axle
Hey guys,
I was wondering is it a pretty big job to replace the driver's side front axle on a 93 accord ex? There's one for sale in my town for cheap and the seller told me that's the only thing that it needs. I'm wondering now if it's like the whole axle or if it's just the CV joint that's broken. Your thoughts on this and a rough estimate on price to get this repaired is appreciate and welcome thanks

Re: 93 accord broken axle
I just had both front axles replaced on my '92 Accord EX this past summer due to state inspection mandating full CV-boots (not split...)
Cost me less than $100 per axel for remanufactured axles and about $120 labor for the small-town garage guy around the corner to put them on. Looking back as I'm doing my rotors on this car, I could have probably done it myself. So - I paid about $320 for both axels.
I had an estimate of $550 to do it. I opted for the $320 and supported a local garage.

alright cool, that's not so bad. I have some local garages around here to that can probably get it done for about the same. I'll look into it and see if it looks like i can manage it myself or not. I've never done it before but i read over dome how-to's and it looks fairly simple.

I can usually do one in about 20 min. Remove the axle nut36mm(its pretty tough), then the wheel. Next pop out the lower ball joint and the strut mounting nut and bolt. Then the axle comes out with a pry bar or screw driver.

are you sure? did you forget the three 14mm bolts holding the half shaft support bracket? this is the left axle. or am i wrong on the 93 EX having this?

this is easy however to fix. i do them in about 20 minutes also. they pay like 0.6-hours at the dealer so we have to work fast, but they charge 1.4 hours to replace these in the dealer
