So I got a new and ugly floor carpet. I was wondering if anyone has ever try using cheap walwart $1 paint on the carpet before.
does it look and feel nice
or
does it look nice and feel hard and dry?
thanks for the help if you can. I search but most are about using interior cloth paint, i wanna be cheap and use cheap paint(low budget).

You want to paint your carpet (using cheap and low budget paint, no less)...and you're asking if it'll look and feel nice?
The answer is no. It'll feel hard, rough, and dry. The color will last about two hours before the paint starts to flake off the fibers from wear.
At the minimum, you should use a carpet specific paint. Some here have tried that and gotten good results. How long those results will last is another question.
Or save your money and buy carpet in the color you want?

Best thing to use is Rit. U can get it at walmart or any craft shop. I did it last year. Still black as hell.

I used some fabric spray paint from the parts store. Feels hard and crusty and its starting to wear off in high traffic areas (By pedals and such.)

'm by no means rich, my carpet isn't the most asteticly pleasing thing, but i would never butcher or submit my car to that kind of treatment. thats just simply wrong. i would much rather rock a carpet with a few stains/smudges and not spend a dime then spend a few dollars and completely ruin my interior and have everyone ask me why my carpet feels like an old crusty *** rag...

Unless you feel and rub your carpet on a regular basis then it really isnt noticeable. Here are some before and after pics.
Step 1- Vacuum carpet from any debre.
Step 2- Remove kick panels from car.
Step 3- Remove seats with a 14mm socket for bolts.
Step 4- Remove carpeting from car.
(Skip Steps 5-7 if not necessary and continue to Step 8.)
Step 5- If carpet is stained or dirty, proceed to clean.
Use a scrub brush with soap and warm water.
Step 6- Rinse until soap suds are no longer visible.
Step 7- Let carpet dry for a day, in the sun or in a air circulated area.
Step 8- Place carpet flat on ground.
Step 9- Lay out newspaper around edges of carpet for over spray.
Step 10- Using Dupli-Color Vinyl & Fabric Paint on carpeting, shake can. Spray left to right until carpet is all one color.
Step 11- Let carpet dry for 2 hours or until carpet is dry.
Step 12- Re-install carpet back in car.

considering you can get a used carpet and just wash it out for less then 50 bucks, id say that if you cant afford that you probably cant afford to build up a car anyways, this is probably as bad as the 50 dollar paint job thread in the body work sub forum, where people think its cool to paint their cars in interior wall paint from home depot rather then spending 200 bucks for 2 stage automotive paint and doing it the proper way.
