Default 93 Civic si d16z6 start issue

Hello just recently as I go to start my car nothing happens no crank no start but if I keep my key in the start position it will start up normally but has a delay before it starts. Battery is good starter doesn't make any weird noises car runs great and as normal. I have cleaned up the thermostat ground and made sure that the wire going to the starter was hooked up properly. Sometimes the delay is longer than others and sometimes it doesn't delay. Also while I was holding the key in the start position CEL 8 came up for TDC sensor that has only happened twice and I shut it off and got started it back up and the code disappeared. Car runs great and this is stumping me. Thanks

Auto or manual transmission?

No crank - Test the ignition switch.

Code 8 - Ohm test the TDC sensor and inspect the distributor internals.

Manual transmission, the clutch switch is working properly too as that was one of my first thoughts. Is it common for the ignition switch to go bad and is there anything else that could cause this issue. Also how would you go about testing an ignition switch on the car without tearing apart the dash.

There's a diagram for Ohm testing the ignition switch in the FAQs sticky.

Have you checked the main relay yet? They go bad quite often.

I'm pretty sure its not the main relay. I would also like to add that I just took the car out for a drive and it had been sitting for about a day and it took longer for it to start.... Not crank but get to the stage where she will start to crank I had to cycle the key on key off and hold in in the start position to finally get it to crank. Stopped at a restaurant and came back out to car and it started right up like normal. Once I got back home I shut it off and started it back up again normal. It seems as if the longer it sits the longer it is to start. I have not gotten around to ohm testing the starter as I am away to college and do not have tools readily available.
