Not sure but when you do figure this out be careful not to make bends in it sharp enough to bind it up when you pull the release.

Your fender has to come off to install it

You don't have to take the fender off to replace the hood cable. You can remove the black plastic fender liner instead. It's sort of a pain in the *** to do, but at least it's not removing the fender.

You will need to open the hood, remove the bumper and remove the left (US driver's) headlight. That's just the exterior side. The interior side means you need to remove the plastic kick panel piece and unbolt the handle. If you're removing the entire cable it comes out by pulling it into the car.

From then it really depends on where you want to route the cable. As mentioned before you're going to want to avoid any sharp bends.

Is this a common way for theives to get in? I would assume its easier to pry off (the already easy) Civic windows and pop the hood from the inside.

It is easier probably to just get into the car and pop the hood. The question might be that some might try to just pop the hood if they're worried there's a basic alarm on the car that will go off if the door is open. I don't know. Not a bad way to help protect the car. It should only take a half hour or so to do, depending on how you route it.

I think you'll have to drill a hole for the passenger side. I like the idea though. Once they're in your car, they can't just pop the hood, they'll have to find the latch first. If you could take some pix I'd appreciate it! Not where you hid the latch, but where there's room to go through the fender or firewall. I want to run a second cable type hood lock through that side.

FYI, I reran my hood cable through the firewall, and the thieves just shoved their little hand and skinny arm through the slots in the bumper and yanked the cable by the latch. I didn't think it was possible, but they did it, and when I tried myself after it was possible. Extremely painful, but possible.
After that I put some expanded steel (painted black) behind the plastic grill on the bottom and top.

I know the top mesh is too small for anyone to stick their hands through, but being it's only plastic and the cable is right behind it, I figured it could use a little reinforcement.
I also used zip ties instead of those little plastic clips, because once they get to a little part of the cable the clips easily pop out and give them the slack they need to get a good enough grip to pop the hood.

anyway let me know what kind of route you find on the passenger side.
