Default Compression good, leakdown necessary?

As title states, i'm having a JDM GSR motor swapped in next week, and i'm wondering if a leak down test would be worth getting done.

before i commited to purchasing the motor, i had my mechanic do a compression test, and had results of 215 across all four with no more than a few percent difference between them all. He also checked for the usual things like smoke, etc and gave me the thumbs up.

I've read that leakdown tests can detects leaks that a compression test wouldnt, but if it had major leaks, wouldnt the comperssion numbers be uneven and/or lower?

TIA

if you had any leaks there would be different numbers in compression. 215 in all four cylinders sounds good to me. what are the GSRs supposed to be at?

from what i heard good numbers are between 200-240. The owner of the motor claims on his reader he got 240 on all four. Although I've heard different compression testers getting different readings, i heard its more important that all 4 are not more than 10% or so apart... correct me if i'm wrong...

btw it has ctr cams... i'm now wondering if this would affect the compression..

if he got 240 on all four thats really good. i would do a compression test yourself but if you are the same all across all four cylinders thats really good and i dont think you need a leak down test

if you did a CT and got a solod 215 across the board then there is a 99% chance a leakdown test wont yield any negative results. if it was smoking and had good compression it would probably be valve seals, if it had poor compression and was smoking rings. since it has good CR and no smoke you should be in the clear.
