Default Remove ign. rotor??

Hmmm? How do I get the ignition rotor off my '96 4-cyl. Accord, non VTEC??

Rotor is held on with screw. But dust cap is below the rotor blocking access.
Do I crank engine till screw lines up with hole in dust cap?

Or??

OK. Rotated engine till screw was visible thru cutout in dustcap that's under the distr. cap.

Dang rotor retainer screw is all chewed out. Gonna get a new phillips bit but I might need to destroy the dust cap and then cut off the rotor. Recently bought the car, I wasn't the one who left it like it is.

Are most of those dust caps tossed away by now? Or should I be sure to have one in there when I'm done?

I still have mine and I always will. If the need be I'm sure you can run your car without one. Remember to keep an eye on your CYP sensor that it isn't getting too dirty.

Note;
If your check engine light ever comes on after removing the dust shield and gives you a code 9 CYP, No.1 Cylinder position sensor error. You can probably account it to the sensor contacts being dirty. Just give them a cleaning.
