Default 01 swap, what more powerful engine will fit?

I have a 2001 Civic, LX, 4dr sdn. A while ago I developed an engine knock, so I replaced the spun bearings, it lasted about 50 miles then started knocking again. About 5 miles later it seized. Now I need a new engine.

I am looking at swapping it and thought it would be good to put a more powerful engine in it. It currently has a d17a1, can I put a d17a2 in it without a lot of difficulty? Will it fit?

Yes it will fit. Also you can pay some $$$ and put in a k series engine. But search and you will find answers my friend.

yeah if you have the spare change laying around you're much better off going with a k swap. the d17a2 was in my 05 ex coupe and it just dosent accept modifications well at all, quoting a sticky, "at best you might get 20 to 30 whp which just isnt worth the thousands you'd invest in it" go with a K

the d17 responds horribly to basic bolt ons such as intake headers and exhaust, someone made 124 whp with a stage 1 crower cam, intake, headers and exhaust.

exactly and thats at least a grand right there.....1G for 124whp.....not worth it in my book, i mean i guess you could build the whole engine and boost it but.....still

you dont have to build the hole motor for boost, obviously if you do it will make it more reliable however, the stock block is very well built. andyman was pushing 15psi on a stock block without any problems. ARP headstuds are a must, and ARP rod bolts are also good insurance. depending on your power goals you can decide when internal work is manditory or not
