Default weird noise 95 accord ex

I get a weird vibration or noise at 2500 rpm while under load. When I'm stopped and rev it, its gone. But going up a hill or pulling out, it moans at me. Only @ 2500. It goes away at 2600. I just replaced the exhaust from cat back. It sounds like it could be a exhaust noise. I did notice the Manifold had a crack in it. But I'm afraid its internal. If the Balance shaft was bad would there be a noise all the time? I had my wife brake race it while I tried to pin point the noise under the hood and the rear brake lines blew out at that exact second and I saw my life flash before my eyes. I'm gonna do the manifold. Has anyone come across this?

Check the shielding for both the Catalytic Converter and the exhaust. They have the tendency over time to break welds due to corrosion and come adrift.
The Converter shields are particularly bothersome between 2200 and 2500 rpm; giving off a really annoying buzz.

yea it could be that certain part of your exhaust vibrating at that certain rpm
check your whole exhaust systems and make sure everything is tight and snug

mmm...is it like a squeaking noise (kinda like you're pealing out noise) that only happens on 1st n 2nd gear for like a secound? if it is, u might have the same problem i do. check ur front motor mount? mine is in the crapper and am going to replace it soon. what i did to check was, put the ebrake and try to take off while sum1 is looking at the engine, if it moves around like its a v-8 muscle car (drastically moving front and back or to the sides) then its that motor mount. thats what mine did...lol...

theres my 2 cents and good luck

The exhaust seems tight. No thing rattles when I strike it. The manifold has a crack. The cat and manifold have 260k on them. Its only happens at 2250 while driving. 2 rpms before or after its goes away. It almost sounds like a exhaust leak but there's no fumes. I can kinda fill it in the pedal.

I find the upper converter shield is the culprit most of the time.

Striking it won't duplicate your condition, unless you can whack it at 2500/minute.

Take several large stainless hose clamps (the worm type), link them together and form a strap around your converter. Tighten it within an inch of it's life. This will secure the upper shield to the converter.

If this isn't it, you'll most likely need to find someone locally with an educated ear that can roadtest the thing.

I don't think the converter has a shield. I noticed today that it doesn't do it when the engine is cold . It takes a few miles before it starts to curse at me.

I was trying to check out the rear motor mount and found some air box that is tied in to the intake tube . It has a vacuum line on it and a controller of some sort. There's a flap in it. When I put vacuum on the line, I hear a hiss and the flap doesn't open. I'm wondering if that flap in vibrating under load and making my noise. I'll try to figure out how to get a picture of it on this site.
