Default Hesitation on 94 Accord DX

I have a 94 Accord DX with 124k miles and automatic transmission that is hesitating after a few minutes of driving. If I press the gas pedal it hesitates, and feels like it wants to stall, if I give press harder on the gas pedal it does not help. If I let go of the pedal completely and give the same amount of I did when it hesitated it has the problem clears up and typically does not happen again until the car is shut off and cools down and then started again. I watch the thermostat on the dash and it seems to consistently happen at the same temperature, I am guessing when the thermostat for the cooling system opens all of the way up.

I have replaced the air filter, rotor, distributor cap, plugs and wires and it did not help.

Any one have any suggestions what to try next?

Is the O ring on the distributor leaking? Replace the fuel filter just to see what happens (can't go wrong).

What's your mileage? Could be time for a new fuel pump.

I fixed some typos in the above quote.

When I used to work on cars when I was a kid they had carburetors. Is there anything like a choke that opens up as the car heats up with fuel injection?

Your EGR ports might be clogged.

Hesitation can be caused by many things. The clogged EGR ports were a common problem. Have you tried cleaning the throttle body?

Check fuel pressure at the rail. Make sure it's within spec...I believe it should be 28psi IIRC. If that's fine, check your fuel filter if that was one of the things you didn't change. Do you misfire at all?

Thanks for all of the responses.
Sometimes when the hesitation occurs and I press too far on the gas I hear what I call a back fire (maybe that is the same as a misfire). If I let go of the gas when I first feel the hesitation and accelerate slowly there is no misfire. With or without the misfire the hesitation only happens once when the engine first heats up. I tried just letting the engine warm up for 10 minutes before driving it and did not get a hesitation. I can not say for use if letting it warm up will always work because some days the hesitation just does not happen.

Could try replacing your coolant temp sensor, the two wire one under the dizzy. The computer uses that one to calculate fuel maps according to engine temp. Could be giving a false reading for a moment, it should throw a check engine light, but with these older CEL computers aren't that great and it might not pick it up. A cheap part that I have seen on other types of vehicals cause alot of problems. Good luck
