instrument cluster temp gauge problems
1998 honda accord ex... the digital display was all out of whack and only halfway showing up, sometimes flickering... SO, i bought a cluster from the salvage yard with similar miles out of a 2002 (they said it interchanged) accord. when i swapped it in the temp gauge was acting up. after about 5 seconds after the car starts the temp gauge shoots instantly to HOT. i figured this cluster was fubar, so i took both clusters apart and swapped just the temp/fuel gauge part... no change. still goes instantly to HOT. any ideas?

Re: instrument cluster temp gauge problems
well i just did some more research and now have a new question... i guess the '98-00 accords used 2 seperate sending units, and the '01-02 used a single sending unit. is it possible to just swap in a '01-'02 temp sending unit and make it work?? i would really like to get this thing back working and together this weekend

Theres two seperate sending units on your car. A two wire unit and a one wire unit. The two wire one is for the computer, and the one wire one is for the gauge. You should test the wiring first, then test the sending unit(First remove, and clean threads, then reinstall, to make sure the ground is good) Then test the resistance of the sensor output.
Looks like the new cluster gauge, has a different range than the old one.
