P0505 idle air control malfunction...yeah, you will need to replace the idle air control valve.
very common on 98-02 high mileage accords, both 4 cylinders and v6's. more common on the v6's... it will eventually get worst and set a permanent dtc Last edited by PilotOnDubs; 10-24-2009 at 12:03 AM. |

1. Did you remove the throttle body spacer you had on? If not, remove it.
http://www.honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=1226470 2. When you replaced the IAC did you put on a new o-ring? Everything plugged back in correctly? Double-check it. 3. Disconnect battery. 4. Do idle learn procedure: Start engine with all accessories off and let idle for 10 minutes. |

Go to the dealer and get it along with a new gasket.

Yes. Also, disconnect battery first before performing the work. Good luck.

sounds like a vaccuum leak.
and guys, cant you just clean out the iacv? they are kind of spendy to just replace with no dianostic check first, mine was doing the same thing, different year, but i just took it off, soaked the insides with carb cleaner and let it sit for like an hour and then sprayed it out again and then repeated that process a few times. Put it back on and no issues. carb just builds up in that valve if i'm not mistaken its not really neccsary to replace it unless the electronic portion of it isnt working proper.

check the plug on the egr, make sure its plugged in. that threw my egr once after i changed my distributor. may have to take that off and clean it too. they are a bitch to get off on my year accord, you definately may need one of those joint socket adapters along with a medium extension. i had to use a special socket for stripped bolts to get it off because the effers were on there good from all the carb build up.
