I've been doin some searching, and haven't came up with much. I was looking for other people's imput on spool characteristics, and streetability.
i'm looking to either get the go-autoworks s362 turbo kit, or the afi bottom mount stage 3 kit. both are around the same price range, but which 1 would be better suited for me? i'm looking to do around 450 on pump gas and 600 on race gas. any help would be greatly appreciated

Well, for one thing, the turbo turbos are COMPLETELY different in terms of response characteristics and size. The quality of the kits from both companies are well designed, though I have more experience with the Peakboost and AFI kits. As for the turbocharger itself, I'm more of an S262/362 fan (as in the one from the Go-Autoworks, because of the extended tip inducer, use of a .70A/R v-band, and great durability. The S362 coincides more with the GT35R than the T3/T67, which is a top end monster.
You can't lose with either kit, but the Borg-Warner turbocharger I believe is more usable than the T67

I concur, the s362 kit would be more similar to a 35r kit.

I am shooting for the same goals as you are, with a 84mm LS-V motor. Im going with a peakboost ramhorn with a s362 from TheShodan.

mine is a 81.5mm stock sleeve gsr with block guard,cp 10:1 pistons, crower rods, head is ported, and has full ferrea valvetrain and type-r cams
i want something with a lot of top end though, is the s362 more than enough, or should i do the t3/t67?

Both can make good "top end". what is your actual power goal? What are you trying to do with this car?

i would like to have a fun street car/weekend warrior, i know it wont be anywhere near my old hatch, but i would like to be able to drive it to the track, run a low 11 or high 10, and then drive it home. i don't really approve street racing, but i wouldn't mind giving a friend's r6 a run for its money also
i would like to make around 450 on pump gas and 600 on c16 or q16

I would reiterate what has been previously said by The Shodan, but i'll agree with and save myself the writing. The S362 would be a better choice all around. I have an S256 and can imagine the quality (and amazing sound) of the Borgs to be univeral to all their ETT turbos...i couldn't live without that whine

i think i'm leaning more towards the bw s362 after doing some reading last nite, it seems to have more of a useable powerband on the street and still has good top end

Either one wil work great the t67 is going to be a little more peakish power. i ran one on my old car and loved it but spool doesnt really concern me much so thats why i loved it. also with the right tuning its still a very usable turbo street wise. but the BW would probably the better of the two for all around

Trust me . my set-up just looks complicated because of all the changes i have made..
But it's stock sleeves,9.7:1, eagles and stock crank. No port n polish with Crower valvetrain and CTR cams. Stock GSR tranny with ITR diff I have a CM twindisc now, But i'm sure the CC stage 5 would have held the power. stock ignition, i justt put an external coil in chipped P28 I'm sure i would have made the same power with a ramhorn manifold, The topmounts helps a LITTLE!!. |

You will have better responce with the Borg, but when the T67 kicks in its an animal..... personally I think I am in love with T67's so my opinion might be biased haha
I was making 14lb of boost with mine at 5200rpm with an 81.5mm 8.2:1 GSR with GSR Cams and made power to 9800rpm so it had a nice fat powerband as well, and it was extremely streetable.

Go Borg.. everyone's doing it.. lol
I think if you are considering a 67 you should look into a s366 I daily drive mine and track it every weekend.. you can floor it at 3k in 5th and build 4psi almost instantly. Spool is very similar to my old GT3082R, the power it makes isn't however. Stock 81mm bore. 89mm LS Crank Its absolutely crazy sounding, the whine is one of the loudest attributes that honestly sounds supercharged. The transient response is amazing, I can shift at 8k in 1st and not fall out of boost between the shift. The response is better than any journal bearing turbo I have run across. But honestly for your ~600whp power goals I would pick the 362 as its perfect for that. Spool would be excellent, it would come on sooner than a 35r and produce more power. I would recommend the s366 or 67 for sleeved setups looking for ~750+whp. If you go 366+, go divided. Its not needed but I'd prob go divided with a 362 to control lower amounts of boost better. Hope this helps, DK

I remember my hatchback with the pt76, i would only have like 8psi at 5000rpm, but i did turn the motor 11500rpm so that didn't really bother me, but with this being a street car, i need something down lower. Honestly i really liked my procharger cuz it came on instantly, but would fall off above 9krpm, and it had a sound like no other..lol
