01 CRV rear brakes
I have an 01 CRV lx.. FWD.. it has drum brakes in the rear. I will be using it to tow a small boat soon and would like o upgrade them to disks. I did a little googling but came up with nothing really.. It would seem that all the CRV's 97-01 had rear drums. I havnt crawled under to check stuff out.. wouldnt surprise me if integra/si "hubs" and brakes would bolt right up.. Im gonna look at everything side by side with my civic.. but wont have time for this until the weekend.. anyone have any info?

Re: 01 CRV rear brakes
I looked into this shortly because I hate drum brakes. It appears that the trailing arm is the same but the LCAs are definitely different, being that I have the AWD CRV I would not be able to use other brakes but you might be able to. Maybe you can use the brake components and bolt them onto your existing trailing arms?

Here, send this guy an email and take some pics of the rear brakes of the CRV:

His name is Mike, he is known on Honda-Tech as the "Brake Expert" and that is what he is, an expert. He has pieced many different brake components to make "X" brakes work on "X" car.

Re: 01 CRV rear brakes
sorry all.. got tied up last weekend and didnt get a chance to check stuff out.. as far as i can tell there is no way to bolt disks to the CRV's real trailing arms.. and just a quick glance at both civ and crv trailing arms swapping them woul not work.. the crv's are about 5-6 inches taller where the upper arm connects to. so its not gonna be easy if its even possible.. will let HT know if i figure something out

Re: 01 CRV rear brakes
Hope it's different on the '01, but the '02 rear disks were a chronic problem for me. They required an annual disassemble/clean/lubricate/reassemble or they would make noise or drag. Granted, this is in the saltbelt, but haven't had that persistant type of problem on my other cars.

Re: 01 CRV rear brakes
There's a sticky about this on HondaSUV. Type R and Prelude discs are close and it looks like it a simple re-drill for the bolt pattern or maybe an adapter. Shouldn't be a huge deal, but not a 'bolt on' like the Civic drum to disc swaps.

Re: 01 CRV rear brakes
did some more research today.. it seems like putting bolting the rotors on is easy... just take the drums off and put rotors on the hubs.. the trick will be fabing some sort of bracket to hold the caliper... im gonna look into it.. more info soon
