Default 2003-2007 Honda Accord

Hey guys I'm in the market for a 2003-2007 Honda accord (4cylinder), I'm open to what model,4 door or 2 door, auto or stick but just want to make sure it's worth getting and wont have expensive known issues, I don't want to buy something that is more headaches like my past 95 GSR Integra I just sold. I know all used cars will need normal maintenance but aside from that what advise would you guys suggest when looking into the 03-07 accords, what year would you guys say is the most reliable and problem free? I will be traveling back and forth from LA to Las Vegas to San Diego at least 4 times a month so I want to make sure I have a very reliable car that isn't going to end up needed major work after only a few trips. Also as far as maintenance how expensive are they to own? All help and advice is greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Hey wuzzup, good choice for ur next car, First do u have a big family or is it just you, do u like auto or stick, everyones different, i would suggest limting ur choice to 05-07 because any issues between 03-04 were fixed by 05 , i have a 07 4dr stick and love it, and its just me , they are very reliable as long as u keep maintinence (oil changes, keeping fluids topped off, ect. if u do purchase a used honda they usaul come with a certified 5 year -100k warrenty , so any engine or tranny problems are taken care of. the 2dr and 4dr are beautiful cars 06-07 bodies changes so its up to ur prefference, 03-05 160hp-160tq 06-07 166hp-161tq, if ur looking for more power u can always go for a
v6 03-05 240hp-212tq with 21 city 30 highway good on gas , 06-07 244hp-211tq, 4cyinder can save gas to but its all on ur driving, they are a smooth ride for long trips and ull be able to go 300-400 miles or more between gas tanks and same with v6, they are not expensive to own, ive had mines for 2years and havent spent over 250 in maintinence .. My chioce would be 06-07 4dr or 2dr any problems will be already fixed before these year car, if u find them used u wont pay alot like new but ull get new, 15k-19k used with low miles, high miles 12k-17k on 4 and 6 cylinder, i know i said to much, but thats my advice, g/l with ur choice and keep us posted on ur finally decision after all is said and done.....

Thank you for all your great advise. I actually did focus on the 06-07 since I found the lease amount of issues, I just kept my mind open to other years since the price was a little lower.I know the accord has had a bad history with there transmissions so I kept my mind open to stick shift since there hasn't been many issues. I don't have a family It's just me most of the time unless you count my g/f and friends but for the most part it's just me. I really want to go with the 4 cylinder since I'm not trying to race or anything simply have comfort at a decent price with great reliability. As far as 100k mile warranty does that include all accords any year whether you buy/bought it from a private owner or dealer? I have only owned used private owned cars so I'm not to familiar how dealers work along with warranty's. I wanted an automatic due to me driving stuck in traffic every day on the way to work but if the Manuel is going to be more reliable then I'll make the sacrifice to feel more at peace, I know automatic transmissions can get very expensive if they start to have problems

Hi,

My uncle also has a 2007 Accord. He thinks its the most reliable car he has ever owned. Isn't it strange that some years seem to produce the best cars in that class?

My 04 6/6 coupe is at about 80k.
In that 80k I've changed the oil, air filter, and brakes. Nothing else.
The car is bulletproof.

My wife's 07 v6 sedan has about 30k and has also never had an issue.

Price wise do you guys think going with a 2000-2002 Accord - 2006-2007 Accord is worth it?

If u purchase a 2000-2002 accord u most likely will find them with high miles and no warrenty , ive owned 99-2000 accords , even tho they are reliable cars as long u take care of them , it all depends are ur financial situation, either one is a nice pick, 2000-2002 should cost way below 9000 even with low miles..... but of course 06-07 is well worth it...

Well I'm not to concerned about warranty since I'm looking into private owned, I was looking to pay cash so I wouldn't deal with the financing issues,taxes,etc... i was kinda focused on the 2000-2002 since it has more history and the 2006-2007 still has only a few years out, plus it's a K-series motor and I'm not sure if the maintenance would be along greater down the line compared to the motor in the 00-02. Comparing the two what are the pros and cons aside from the looks and little more power the 06-07 has if they are both 4cylinder, 5 speed? Also are the transmissions in the 06-07 accords reliable now unlike the previous generations? Why are there so many for sale online under 10,000 with low miles?

The only transmission issue you should look out for involves the V6 6sp stick. The 06-07 accord with a 6 speed has some issues with 3rd gear synchros... mine needs to go in for service on that now - there is a TSB posted on it in this forum as well - so if you find you're looking at a 2006-07 with a 6MT check to see if the owner has had problems shifting into 3rd (or if they did and already had the dealer fix it...)

the OEM accord brake rotors seem to warp at lower mileage than I expected, so I'm replacing them now with some EBCs at 50,000 miles, but you'd expect to do the brakes on almost any car by 50k.

Other than that, this car is awesome; reliable, comfortable and routine maintenance is cheap!

My grandpa bought a 2006 four-door Accord with an automatic transmission and enjoys it. He has no complaints, and takes care of his car pretty well. It's an LX, and it's pretty good for what trim is is. Power locks, power windows, cruise control, all that good stuff. It accelerates when you need it too, and it's very quiet.

It responds very well to steering and braking. Stop on a dime and get 9 cents change.
