start up problem on 02 civic ex

start up problem on 02 civic ex
when i start up the car it crank up but it takes along time to start it up, sometime you have to try a couple of time and if i shut the engine off i cant start the car, any ideas whats the problem?

This may sound silly, but are you low on fuel? Hondas are VERY picky when low on fuel.
Next time you go to crank up, do this. Put the key in the on-position like your about to start it, but dont actually crank it over. Let it go for a few seconds. Then try starting the car. It might just be because there isn't enough fuel in the system and it loses fuel from the lines, so it takes a second to pressurize it.
