ej2 complete rebuild on the cheap first project
bought this car from a junkyard for $200 everything was in the car except main relay and battery. i started selling parts on ebay before i decided to build it, sold the dash for $200 and made my money back, and sold the rest of the interior, headlights, quarter extensions, one seat, guage cluster, so i started out with +$600 or so...im afraid this will be slow due to money but here we go

the motor in the passenger side floor was an extra d15 i had, from my red civic that i swapped a b16a into. first thing, i need to replace my wifes head gasket on her 4-door civic so im going to pull the head off this car, warranty out all the gaskets for free, and send this head to the shop to have it machined and new valve seals put in.

Re: ej2 complete rebuild on the cheap first project
how do you text under each individual picture?.....picked up the cherry picker for pretty cheap and got my nitto neo gens 205-50-15 and ordered my wheels today, and some other parts. the car is an automatic, and its going manual, so i ordered the new manual tranny mount bracket today from honda.
so far, my plans are:
car is going black
enginebay shaved, tucked,painted black
switch from power steer, to manual steer
brake line tuck
find factory spoiler
replace lower control arm bushings and trailing arm bushings
replace wheel bearings
replace all brakes
replace tie rod ends
replace all ball joints
im going to paint all suspension parts with red caliper paint main reason so i could tell if something ever leaks and it'll be easy to clean
all body work and paint will be done by me as well as all fabricating and mechanical work
going to redo entire car wiring harness my own custom way, go through every wire and depin and remove every wire i wont need fuse boxes are going under the dash so ill need to shorten and lengthen some wires
jdm b16a is going in
adding lsd to my tranny
going with mfactory gears with low ratios

Re: ej2 complete rebuild on the cheap first project
got the motor pulled tonight, tomorrow i am going to pressure wash the bay, and drop the fuel tank to start redoing it. the bumper support bar, or whatever its called, was smashed up, so i started looking for more signs of body damage, i started stripping the pass side fender and it was full of body filler, and so was the pass side door. so i am going to replace both
motor was nasty and full of rust
always have to take silly pics of you in the bay
greasy!

Re: ej2 complete rebuild on the cheap first project
picked up the new parts today from honda
also stopped by work and picked up spot weld drill bit to get the old bracket off
nice and easy with the right tools, if you ever do this, its a good rule of thumb to use alot of lube wd40 or something to keep your bit cool, they are expensive so you want to take care of it

Re: ej2 complete rebuild on the cheap first project
thanks for the replys i was starting to think i wouldnt get any lol
next order of buisiness, im going to remove the front suspension, steering, and subframe to replace all the bushings, ball joints, tie rods, bearings, and clean and paint...i wish i could afford some coilovers, but i think im going to cut one full coil off all 4 springs to lower a lil bit, i wonder how much this will lower and how poor the ride will be? anyone have any input on that?

Re: ej2 complete rebuild on the cheap first project
well, i have another one this color, and i really liked these wheels, so its gonna be black and look like a stock civic from the outside, and black is also cheap lol, the car has 4 paintjobs on it, so im definitely going to strip it

Re: ej2 complete rebuild on the cheap first project
if your doing this much work to the car please do not run cut stock springs. your better off getting the dropzone sleeve over coils and shocks for cheap or even just a set of cheaper priced lowering springs. anything is better than cut stocks the ride is going to be awful. trust me my friend had them on his car wayyyyy back in the day and i hated riding in that bucket
