Re: Is a 5-lug conversion worth it?
How? Cutting up some other rotors on a lathe and using calipers from another car? Thats cool if you think that's legit. I don't

Re: Is a 5-lug conversion worth it?
who really cares if its worth it or not,its your car,do as you wish.at least this mod has a advantage to it.almost everyone try to make a faster car,but not even half will do any-type of brake upgrade.so consider this a 'fair cost' oem upgrade and not just some jdm candy.........

Value wise, NO...
You can simply install modified ITR calipers and modified VTEC prelude rotors and have nearly identical fade resistance. Step up to a 1" M.C. followed by a decent pad and stainless lines and you'll have better brake fade resistance and a better pedal feel with all of these components. Of course Fade resistance + Friction (pad & tire) = stopping distance.
Five lug also weighs 44 lbs more than the 4-lug so you're increasing unsprung weight. But for the cosmetic factor, yes. Its worth it.

It's for looks not performance so if you like the look and you think it's worth it then yes it's worth it. I've never had a braking problem on the track with stock Integra brakes and good pads (it's the pads that will make the difference).

they're worth it imo. show factor, rarity, and the braking power is a huge difference from stock. most of the 5 luggers around my area are too lazy to piece together a setup similar and rather just bolt on the hubs/control arms/brakes all at one time.
it is probably a cheaper route to gather everything up but it's really up to the owner.
just my 2cents

I know this topic is dead but I keep finding topics like this when looking for 5 lug vs 4 topics and the funny thing people keep talking about his JDM BLING.....the people who call it JDM bling is the most dumb people ever......we did have a USDM TYPE R u know???? so how is that JDM BLING?? and the only difference was in the JDM one was the 36mm axle but then again the OLDer crv's came 36 mm and share and use the same setup as a JDM type r front..so i doubt its a "JDM BLING YO" ....also people keep saying the type r set up weighs more ....but when you add all this stuff to the 4 lug setup does it not add almost about the same weight??? unless you get the civic type r set up where i read that the civic rear disc was lighter

Re: Is a 5-lug conversion worth it?
I like being able to go to any parts store to pick up parts if I need them. The re-drilled prelude rotors don't come that way...and neither do the modded brackets. If you crack a rotor at the track, hopefully you're prepared.
Besides that, the ITR did come with better wheel bearings. I'm sure someone has pointed out that there are very few 15" wheel options for 5 lug cars, however.
I really like the 5 lug setup....but it is a little unnecessary. I was able to get them cheap enough from a JDM distributor that it would have been more expensive to redrill rotors and buy calipers/re machine brackets. I think I got my 5 lug setup on my DB8 and the one on my EM1 for about $200 out of pocket. But I did already have a spare set of ITR wheels laying around. I've also found a 5 lug with CW CTR wheels at a junkyard for under $300. Why anyone would junk a car with a 5 lug (and a bunch of other really rare/expensive parts also) is beyond me.
As far as axles for the 36mm 5 lug, I know 100% for sure that 5G prelude base model driver side axles are 100% bolt on. The passenger side bolts on as well....but I found out that the surface that mates to the axle seal is too long. So I had to swap in B series axle INNER joints.
I have pics and info that I was gonna make a thread for. I think that 5th gen prelude SH axles would probably be a direct fit on the passenger side.
The CTR 5 lug is 32mm....but will require an alignment really bad unless you're putting it on a 96-00 civic.
The CRV 5 lug is a civic spindle....but with a 36mm hub.
The USDM ITR is 32mm and most likely stolen. The JDM ITR is 36mm...but you can use prelude axles.

Re: Is a 5-lug conversion worth it?
This!!! I have Itr brakes on my 4 lug civic for less than $300. There was no modding my bracket or redrilling my rotors. I avoided having to shave my bracket by using Stock Mini Cooper rotors on my Integra Knuckles so I have the ability of going to the parts store if something does break. My hatch is a track *****.

Re: Is a 5-lug conversion worth it?
Yes...with mini cooper rotors, the 11.x" front brake conversion can be bolt on. I think you can use EP3 parts for the rear as well.
Again, the 5 lug does come with stronger hub bearings, but that might be the last real remaining advantage lol. They do look really good, however.
