Just the air bag from the steering wheel? You need a large TORX bit.
Just take off the negative terminal on the battery and remove all the plastic panels around the column. You should see 2 (maybe it's 4) TORX screws holding the bag in. Unplug the wiring harness to it then undo those screws.

Take the negative cable off as MuffinMan said, and also disconnect the positive side too. make sure you know your antitheft codes. You are also supposed to plug the red short connector into the air bag side connector. Then go about taking the air bag out as stated. The bit size is TORX T30.
^^ Taken straight from the factory service manual. I do believe you need to let the car sit for like 10-30 minutes after disconnecting the battery because the SRS module has a capacitor built in that stores power for that amount of time. That is why cops always cut the battery positive and negative cable at an accident. Not only so nothing can work, but also for the air bag reasons, that way they cannot deploy at any time after the initial accident. Good luck

Re: how do you remove the aibag/steering wheel??
You dont have to unplug the battery. While the car is off, take off the plastic around the steering column. There should be 4 phillips screws holding it on. Make sure the screw driver you use is at least 4 inches long because they're in there pretty far. After you get the plastic off, you should see 2 yellow plastic peices underneath the steering column holding wires together. disconnect both of them. That's what prevents the air bag blowing in your face.
To get the air bag off. There will be 2 bolts on both sides of the steering wheel. (Say you're holding you hands at 4 o'clock and 7 o'clock.) The bolts will be right behind your hands. After you get those out, you should be able to get the air bag out with out a problem.
I actually did this last night to my 94 accord, so I have a bit of memory of doing this.

I am only telling him to take the battery out for safety sake and because it is manufacturer recommended. I mean better safe than sorry and having an air bag deploy in your face.

well now that you mention the bag is blown, not so much on the disconnecting the battery, but i would before you go to put the new one in.

(that's sarcasm fyi) By disconnecting the battery you are playing it safe.

Hmmm.......what a concept. And good call on the steering column size. I was going to say something. Is the spline even the same teeth on them??? Might as well just give the exact replacement steering wheel or air bag, they are a dime a dozen on eBay.

but is the spline even the same? could have different amount of teeth on it.
We are not doubting you are or flaming you and saying its a bad idea, just trying to save you money if it does not work and you are stuck with a prelude column.

oh what year is your cb 90-91 or 92-93?
to stick those wheels on a 92-95 just get the back plastic part thats behind the wheel. where the blinker/wiper switches go

I think so. Looks like it'll fit. How much is it? Try it out and let us know!

Well yeah, the splines need to match up from wheel to column. Meaning the number of teeth. Not to mention the electrical wiring as well. Which year lude you getting it from?

Re: how do you remove the aibag/steering wheel??
This may be true, but the connectors may be different, which of course can be overcome. But like I said how many splines is that steering wheel. And are the connectors for the SRS compatible? I dunno about you, but I would not be hacking and soldering SRS harnesses at all. One grounded out wire and the air bag could go off. Once again, not flaming you, just trying to help.

Re: how do you remove the aibag/steering wheel??
srs?? the steering wheel is non-airbag.
if the cb7 steering wheel fits on a 94-95 accord and on the lude steering wheel then the teeth on the column has to be the same.

Ok, I stand corrected. Just never heard of it. And I did not know this was a non-SRS swap. Just make sure the cops don't notice, or emissions or inspections.

Re: how do you remove the aibag/steering wheel??
They make steering wheel pullers......
As another note. SOME 94/95 have the same spline size as 96/97. We did research on it on HondaSociety.
*edit*
And if it's a non-SRS wheel, refer to my post in the Accord FAQ for the SRS light fix for aftermarket wheels, the same will apply to you.

Haha. I guess we should start recommending the guys taking off their steering wheels to wear a mouth piece and a helmet with a face guard.
