d16y8 and timing in hondata?
Hi i have a d16y8 top on a d16z6 block in my 96 coupe EX.
I have been running p2p ecu and e-manager fine, but i wanted hondata to tune some more.
The orginal p2p map and retarding timing under boost has worked good, but when i bought the s300 i did not know ther was no map for d16y8.
Should i take the p28(d16z6) map en retard the whole map by 4*?
I also tried to set timming at 12* and i flashed it to the middel line of the first 3
" ||| | " the crack wheel is also from my d16y8 block. when i do that i have to put the dizzy all the way back, but on the p2p i only had to have it on the middel so somthing is wrong.
With my original p2p i'm at 12* with the dizzy at center, to get the same result with s300 i had to adjust the timming to 21*.
So should i take the p28 basemap and add 5* insted of retard 9*????
Thanx for any reply

Re: d16y8 and timing in hondata?
Anybody?
Any info.
What do you think of my base map?
Dizzy at senter were the orginal p2p ecu givs 12* ignition, but hondata needed to be base map at 21.5*

Bump, I need to know too. I was outside messing around with my new s300 for the first time and the "Set timing" only allows for 16 btdc...is there a way to make it recognize 12 degrees for the y8?

to match the orginal p2p i have to have the timming to 21* And then the dizzy is almost in center.

I have been trying to figure out the same thing with a turbo D16Y8. Can anyone shed some light as to what is the best way to setup the ignition timing on a Y8. Should I be using a Z6 cam gear?
Does anyone have a S300 calibration for a STOCK Y8??

Well after much research the best way to tune a Y8 is to use a Z6 cam gear and set the base timing to 16* like a Z6 or B series. Then you can use any of the P28 base maps provided with your tuning software and no need to mess with the timing tables.

Re: d16y8 and timing in hondata?
Thats pretty much the setup I have and I cant get timing to match between the hondata ECU and the timing light. If I have dizzy all the way to the firewall I am still only at about 8 degrees of timing, when hondata says 16....
