Its a no-brainer. The vtec head flows better and will make more power with less boost. So what is 3-400 for a vtec head and a lot more power? Just do it.

Also once all the girls find out u got a vtec, they will be all over ur nutz!

vtec will own it everywhere in the powerband, especially after 6000 rpm

If it's stock bottom end, stick with the LS. Why? Because the LS rods/rod bolts suck and don't like RPM's.
I had an LS/vtec in my integra, gt32e, spun it to 8200 rpm's with no problems, but didn't beat on it all the time.
Now I have an LS longblock in my civic and it makes much better tq (probably cuz of the small 18g and high boost) but still, the tq makes the car moveeeee! I would light up the tires to redline in third gear.
That was until my rod snapped. I was only revving to 7300rpm's, but with the tq and wheel spin, every time I got on the gas it would basically sit at redline. The rods couldn't keep up and gave out.
I didn't pull it apart yet, but I'm positive it was a rpm issue not a power level issue.

So if you're keeping a stock bottom end, stick with the LS head and turn the boost up a little to compensate, and make loads of tq. You'll love it :D

i would stick with the LS, but i'm not out there trying to create 500 whp or anything. i got scared of ls/vtec the first time i read something about rod/stroke ratio for that setup. unfortunately, thats all i really know, but i'm happy to stick with the b16.

depending on powerband, tune, and turbo setup, lowering the VTEC engagement at a lower RPM helps with LS VTEC setups since you shouldn't be revving it up past 7500 anyway. Yes, for that type of setup, and if budget allows for it, get forged rods, bearings, pistons and ARP(or the like) bolts for an LS, mate it to a b16 head and call it a day. The turbo speaks for itself.

Not at all doubting the potential of LS/V as I plan on doing the same setup myself, but surely there are better examples than this one man. My stock + all motor cams LS just made 248whp/199ftlbs at 7psi, on a 2.5" DP and exhaust, through a cat at 7100rpm. Vtec head on my setup had damn sure better gain 10whp, most definitely with an extra 700rpm.

Now some of the 350whp LS/V setup's with relatively low boost.. Those are impressive.
