Y80-GSR tranny Problem (help!!!!!)
here's the problem:
Noise in acceleration ( 1st and 2nd) and morning start up ( or whenever the car is cool) loud noise like there is grinding or rubbing between two surfaces. It seems like it's the throwoutbearing... but I really don't know
i put the car in N and with my foot on the clutch and reved it up and no noise
i left the car in gear and pushed the clutch in no noise
Second test:
car is in neutral with clutch up, a slight noise but goes away sometimes.
i have the car in gear and try to accelerate and then it makes noise (1st and 2nd gear)
2 days ago I can't get into reverse and still can't. all other gears work perfect . they all engage and disengage.
can some help me out here with this headache of a problem.

Bearing issue. Probably not the throwout bearing though.
Is this an untouched transmission? It hasn't been opened up and tinkered with at all?

There are two input shaft bearings (as well as a few others throughout the trans). Without opening your casing up ourselves, and without the help of ESP or X-Ray vision, we can only help so much. So... pull the casing open and find out.

the isb is the first bearing, on the main shaft, closest to the engine and clutch, while having it open check the main shaft bearing because that could also be the problem.

The input shaft bearing is at the top of the mainshaft in the transmission casing. The other input shaft bearing (mainshaft bearing) sits in the bell housing at the bottom of the mainshaft. There are also three bearings on the countershaft. Not to mention several small/thin needle bearings throughout the gear stacks.

Well. We say it could possibly be the input shaft bearing. In reality, it may not. And thus, you'll want to check EVERY bearing in the transmission. So you'll have to look at / test them all anyhow.

here's a pic of what I am talking about. its your before and after pic. but on my end in placing the interlocking pin back in it never closed properly in the groove as shown in the first pic so it looks like the second pic but slightly bent up a little

Have you gotten the chance to open the trans up and see what the problem was?

Re: Y80-GSR tranny Problem (help!!!!!)
I"m going to clean the gears thoroughly and the sychros as well. Do you think I should grease the bearings? would that help at all? the throwout bearing looked really bad as well as the throwout fork that sits on the ISB. ( you know I mean) I'm going to replace it. tomorrow I plan on taking apart the clutch and inspecting it as well as the flywheel. Also will check the pilot bearing as well. Is there a specific torque that you are suppose to tighten the transmission crews? and if they are to tight would that affect the shift forks?

No real need to use grease on anything internal. Just make sure the bearings are well oiled. Definitely put some grease on the input shaft / throw out bearing. You can grease up the ball that the TOB fork pivots on as well.
20~ ft-lbs.
Nope. The shift forks move freely up and down. The casing just keeps them on course.
Surprised you couldn't find anything bad in the transmission if indeed you had noise like you mentioned.
Also, when you mentioned the c-clip being bent; was it bent upon removal, or did it bend when you closed the casing (if you even sealed up the trans yet)?

it was bent when I opened it up. the area where you use the wrench in it. the screw that covers it
