Default How to fix running rich?? Em1

hello i think my car is running rich, when i turn it on for a cold start with garage open, it really smells like gasoline int he garage. also, it backfires alot more than it used to. example is if i put it in 3rd gear, and gas it to about 6k rpm and then let it decelerate back to 800rpm, it will backfire at least 4 times on the way down. how do i fix this? also, i just got new spark plugs, some autolites. i know theyre cheap brands but they were free (discount), would it REALLY help that much if i got some ngk's? thanks!!

check engine lights?

larger injectors, too much fuel pressure, out of time and a host of other things can contribute to this. people need more details to even try and help you. telling us you run rich is similar to saying "my car won't start"

get a set of ngk plugs. the ones you have might not be gapped right causing combustion problems

bought some ngk spark plugs today, and it drives a bit better and no more backfiring, however on the way home i heard 1 backfire but it might be normal. i have a custom axleback pipe for my exhaust. also when ic hanged the plugs, i noticed my spark plug wires were kinda bronze/yellow color for the part that goes intot he spark plug hole. is this normal? im planning to buy new ones anyway, does it matter if i get ngk brand or justa generic brand? thanks!!

i dont think the brand of the spark wire plugs matter because ive been running some autozone ones for a while and no problems yet.
also try to check the rotor and cap while your at it.

can some one tell me if the color of the spark plug wires being yellowish bronze is a normal sign? original color is black but like half of it is covered in the yellow bronze color. thanks
