Default 98 Accord 4cyl tranny replacement.

I have a 98 accord tranny that is pretty much shot its throwing the code for p0730 and p0740 incorrect gear ration and torquq convertere clutch solenoid circuit.

its a 4cyl automatic with about 196K KM's

just wondering here how difficult it is to replace the tranny at home? I've found and looked at 2 trannys locally from wreckers both are around 160 000 KM and are like 400-500bux. the fluid is very very light pink and non smelly. They will give me a 3 month warranty.

I have never replaced a tranny in an accord and haven't done much. However I have taken a b16a2 out of an EG civic without any air tools just the stuff i got.

Now i understand the civic easier to work on because of how small it is and the room you have to play with.

I'm getting labour quotes between 4-500 dollars as well.

Just wondering how much more difficult just swapping the accord tranny is going to be?

I think I also have a oil leak somewhere cuz every 1500 or so KM i have to add about 1L of oil. I don't see blue smoke out the exhaust but something isn't good thats for sure. But i would still have a running car replacing the tranny.

Any input would be great!

Ya i think your right. its just the risk of getting a bad tranny from wrecker.

the labor is including all fluids tho. so 1000bux it will be.

i did some more digging looks like the sub-frame int he front has to come out too. so thats just seems like more of a pita.

i think its easier to just rmeove the whole unit as 1 (Enginetranny) and change over outside the car.

i guess i shall think about it some more.
