Default torn ligaments FTL !!!

after so much work out.. running, treadmill etcc my right knee lingament finally tore and just gave out while driving/getting into the car. Shits painful and I cannot walk anymore. how long have you guys experienced until you were better enough to workout again ?

I suspect it was a injury that came from running 5-8 miles a day when i did my " hardcore" cardio day and afterward my right knee always hurt and the next day gave me issues. I guess it finally weakened and popped.

Really? You just tore it getting into a car? lol wow talk about weak knees .

I tore mine after like 5 games of basketball and on the last game someone tripped me and I tore it right then and there...it was the most immense pain ever. And if you want to go back to what you were doing before, well at least partially, you will need surgery.

Ligaments in the knee will not heal themselves. Even if there is only a partial tear (which is what I assume you had before you got into your car and finished it off).

You will need surgery to repair or replace the ligament. As an alternative, you can just leave it and, either, wear a good brace or quit sports that put more than a moderate amount of lateral force on the knee.

I would be very suprised that running would cause a ligament to tear or weaken.

Have you seen a doctor or do you just think it is torn?

BTW, if it was a ligament, you will probably be walking in a few days.

the doc said its probably a torn ligament because there was evident bruising/blood inside the rear of the knee connecting towards my calf muscle. He said the blood will absorb back into the body but slowly drain towards my calf area and that area will harden up.

used to be 235ish at 5'5 so that def didn't help.

i cut down to 165 and currently after 2 years of lifting im at 204 and still cardio 2-3 times a week and actively lift ( not as of the last 3 weeks though.. sucks)

i could've heard him wrong and I really hope I did.

Although I actively work out I generally never really played sports in my life other than the occasional football game with some friends.

Well definitely get an xray.

The idiots that claimed to be "athletic trainers" that examined me on the spot said it was probably nothing. But later to find out I needed surgery.

Did he say which ligament? You have four plus the one holding your knee cap.

This is weird becaus I have never heard of blood and bruising as comming from a torn ligamnet (I may be wrong on this though).

An MRI is really the only way to see if it is torn for sure. An X-ray won't show ligaments but will show if the base of a ligament has been torn off of the bone.

hrmm i hope its something retarded. the doctor said the blood would start from my knee and slowly absorb back into my body, only after traveling down my leg leaving my knee area to be soft and my calf area harder. I took off my socks /shoes today and noticed blood pooling/bruising on my upper thigh as well as my foot. =(

update .. i have a abnormal bone spur in my knee thats HUGE. Its close to my blood vessel and nerve in my knee, in the area are a lot of blood vessels and if i puncuture one im screwed. Ill be seeing an orthopedic surgeon early next week. From there, the surgeon will tell me whether or not I will need to operate and get surgery to cut the bone out of my knee.

life will suck .. and time to gain some weight again =(
