Y80- GSR hydraulic tranny noise (B-series Help)
just replaced my tranny. cleaned everything out when I opened the tranny and also lubricated th syncros, gears, and also put Honda Tranny fluid in there. I noticedafter a week of driving the car, I decided to see how it handles if I were to get on it. after doing that there was a chattering noise at neutral from my tranny. Gradually as I drove it from a dead to then leaving first, going onto second the noise was still there but very noticeable. I was told it was my throw out bearing that was going bad or is bad to the point where it is also spinning. but when I engage the clutch the noise goes away immediately. All the gears go in very smooth with no problem. Need to know what it is exactly.

it could by your clutch disk breaking apart and leaven metal piece inside of your pressure plate ... something it can make it feel like the clutch is slipping and sometime it wont engage and sometime wont disengage? ( this is a common problem if your running a o.e.m clutch disk.)

i have a stage 2 ACT clutch... it's not oem and when the clutch is engaged all the way in,, it stops making that noise. there is NO slipping of the clutch at all. I'm just tired of hearing it.

If it makes a rattling noise with the clutch engaged and foot not on the pedal in nuetral and first gear, Input shaft bearing.
If it makes a noise with clutch disengaged and pressure on the clutch pedal, throwout bearing.
I sure you are not clear on clutch engagement terms, hope this clears it up.

If your clutch is engaged when the pedal is all the way in, you have a bad clutch.
If it makes a rattling noise with the clutch engaged and foot not on the pedal in nuetral and first gear, Input shaft bearing.
If it makes a noise with clutch disengaged and pressure on the clutch pedal, throwout bearing.

if you step on the clutch and theres no noise....then with your foot off the clutch it makes the noise then its the input shaft bearing.

it makes the noise accelerating from and out of first and second.... If so then how do i fix this problem if it is the INPUT SHAFT BEARING? does it need fluid or something?

I have the same problem on my 01 G sr . the noise is only when the car is in gear and moving. It tends to get louder when your accelerating or letting go of the gas in gear to slow down. When i place my hand on the shift **** it goes away even if i just place a lil bit of pressure with my pinky it stops.

the imput shat bearing is pretty much one of the first bearings you install when you put together a transmission..
so basically you have to take your transmission apart and pull off the gears to gain access to the bearing
