I enjoy weaving, but man you really gotta watch your heat input.
I gotta get some more stainless stuff to do so I can keep up with you guys!

Re: Post you best welds!!!!!!!
Some recent cage work welds...
4130...
Not as fond of the DOM, but it's not cleaned up the same, so it is a bit coarser looking...
Amazing how I haven't done any mild/4130 for some time, and I don't like the way it feels.
Oh well, not going to fall apart, but so used to the smoothness of stainless now that I'm spoiled!

And Bells with the reminder of just how high the bar really is. Great work as always, started following you on FB and your stuff is just amazing.
All I do is weld 80 year old mild steel anymore. **** sucks! (model As and such) I want to go back to aluminum and stainless something awful.

Re: Post you best welds!!!!!!!
Yeah, FB is just easier and honestly better for business.
Since I went full time, I've had to focus a bit more on the business end of things.
I still popped in here every few weeks for a peek, just not much posting.
Things are looking good in here, keep posting pics up folks!!!
I still think I'm not hot enough with this stuff. Used to low amp stainless stuff, and thinwall 4130. This is .120"wall, so 130 amps likely isn't enough. I'm going to turn it up a bit and report back. I've always preferred hot and fast, just gotta find that groove on the heavier stuff.
Rusty mild steel is crappy to weld, did lots of that for the last 15 years...I ran away!!

Re: Post you best welds!!!!!!!
There are some incredibly talented people in here. I really enjoy checking on this thread to admire everybody's work. I'll be taking some welding courses as tech electives for my associates, and look forward to sitting down with a TIG. I'm sure I'll be turning here for future inspiration!
