technically you're suppose you wrap it around the corner a little bit to help tie it in better, but if it's not going to be on anything that's demands that kind of strength it'll be fine.

i grabed the only peice of al i had in the shop.
it's about 3/8" thick so it was hard to get a bead going without melting the 3/32 tungsten. Thia was welded at about 190 amps give or take. I will try and grab some thin al and toss a weld on that.

Those who have been reading my other thread have seen these, but I thought I'd post them here too! My aluminum welding has been sucking lately as I haven't done much of it in a long time ...

Is there filler used in this weld? If so what size. Looks amazing!

No filler added, it's just fused with a "woodpecker" motion on the torch. Is it the best way to weld a tube? Definitely not, but my customers like it, and it holds up fine in the application.

Re: Post you best welds!!!!!!!
I can't wait to start welding..... My birthdays coming and my fiance said she would throw in a few racks towards my Dynasty 200DX, WOOOOOT.. Can't F-ing wait... Super stoked at the thought of tig welding. I think I will just be one of those naturals considering I did very well on my buddies machine within a matter of a few hours. I guess I could just settle for a synchrowave or Diversion but I figure why not wait a few months and buy the proper machine the first time.
Great welds guys....Engloid post up some of your latest work!

I like the look of those welds and it's a technique I'd like to try for myself.
Regards Andrew from Oz.

Re: Post you best welds!!!!!!!
some of my aluminum welds.
Just made this aluminum coolant reservoir tank for a nsx.
For a person like me that hardly welds i am pretty satisfied how it turned out. Cant remember when the last time i welded with aluminum, probably like 3 months ago though.
My goal to model myself towards are these welds. (NOT MINE) Found this on hybridz.org. One day i hope to be able to lay down welds like these. Just need to practice.

Toxic, I agree, those welds show signs of a good natural welder. You've got your heat down pretty damn good, and you have good rhythm for a beginner. I'm sure the tattoo art helped, it's actually very similar to TIG welding IMO.
It's funny you mention that, I would love to do tattoos. I used to do be pretty heavy into graffiti art and did a lot of drawing when I was younger. Maybe we can switch careers ...
And Dys, you are almost there. Those last ones are pretty much as nice as you are ever going to see on AL. Those are exceptionally clean. I sure as hell haven't done aluminum that clean!

Agtronic: Thanks, It just blows my mind how some of these guys on here (like you) and other forums weld like robots. would like to practice but it can get pretty pricey. Thinking about going back to vo-tech school for welding in the summer and get loads of practice and certification. Cant go wrong with the school, why, because unlimited material, haha.
