Re: post pics of your aluminum welds...
I just started aluminum tig with a Everlast 210ext digital welder, wp17 torch, 3/32" Ceriated (grey) tungsten,#4 cup, 110 freq, cleaning set more to "less".
Seems like a decent little unit but I'm having troubles getting the arc to keep going. It strikes and I can hear the high frequency but then it will cut out within a second or two. The odd time I can keep it going and get a bead laid down but was hoping to get some insight from you guys. Hoping its a user error and not with the machine.
Contaminated tungsten? Wrong cup size? Wrong collet?

I highly doubt it has anything to do with your torch set=up. I'm not familiar with Everlast but it sounds like a internal problem with the machine. Just check your whole set-up to make sure it's correct. Maybe you have something set-up wrong?

I changed my tungsten to red, cup to a #6, and replaced the collet and gas body. I reduced my gas flow as well and now it seems to be working great.
Nice welds up there to^

Thanks, nice to see you got it figured out. I would suggest picking a different Tungsten than thoriated for aluminum. Most of the Rare Earth ones hold up alot better on AC.

Back from the dead.
Threads like these have always inspired me to push harder! No pro, but getting better everyday.
Some of my recent stuff can be seen here. Pictures are to large for HT i guess.

Some thick wall action with a Dynasty350. 75/25 helium/argon mix really changes the weld puddle up. You can really move with this stuff, it's real fun! Figuring out the EP and EN amperages on the 350 was a challenge though. Tungsten degredation was big problem I had with the thicker stuff (all done with 1/8" tungsten). Used to my 200 with a standard 1:1 ratio
6"x6" 1/4" wall tube, flat position
Gusset is 3/8", angle is 1/4" on this one. Horizontal and vertical up welds on this
I hate photobucket.

Stock K24 flange, cut it off and made it work as best I could.
1.75" OD 12gauge aluminum 45 bends from CRMB (runners)
1.75" ID velocity stacks from rossmachineracing.com
basic 1/8" sheet from wherever. I might go 3/16 next time though.
And then the flange for my TB.
That's about it really.

The 350 is amazing. Can't wait to try the 700. Convinced a local company to buy one that I do work for. 1/4"tungsten here we come!!!
Looks like you got that heavy stuff beat. Nice job!
