question on chalkboard hood

so ive been tryin to find some info on this but cant find anything really... anyone know if you can just use regular chalkboard paint or is there some hi temp stuff i can get somewhere. i want to put it on my hood but not sure how it would hold up.. thanks

You can use the regular chalkboard paint from Lowes/Home Depot/local craft store. I sprayed down some primer before spraying down the chalk board paint also and It came out very good and has lasted for over a year now

Yeah I've seen that stuff on a VC, so I would think that you're hood would hold up to it.

This might sound like a redundant question, but would this be difficult to clean?

I ask because it's a painted surface as opposed to an actual chalkboard (unless real chalkboards are also painted).

i just used basic stuff from the crafts store. i layed down 2 coats of spray can primer and then painted on the chalk board, i live in the rainy part of the country and its held up fine, its easy to clean too just like the rest of the car. im going to a regular hood now that im getting the car resprayed, but it was deff cool while i had it, people were always surprised to learn it was chalk board haha

I would recommend getting any wax off of the surface that you are going to paint. After that use a paint scuff pad to make the surface a little ruff for the primer to stick to. Then prime and paint.
