OBD codes P1166 P1167 - O2 sensor
I have a 2000 Honda Accord LX with ULEV.
My check engine light recently went on. When I first read the codes, I got three codes P1166 p1167 AND P1457. I simply rescrewed on the gas cap and the last code went away after driving for a bit.
Now the codes P1166 P1167 remain. I checked several forums and found that the codes are pointing to a faulty O2 sensor - I have not found another explanation for these codes. I also read that my model accord has two sensors (front and back or pre and post Catalytic converter). Here are my questions:
First, is there another possible explanation for these codes?
Second, the front sensor is really easy to find - comes right out of the front of the engine just below the spark plugs. Should I buy a Denso O2 sensor and place the front one to see if that fixes the problem? Does anyone know the right part for my model car?
Third, where is the back O2 sensor?

Re: OBD codes P1166 P1167 - O2 sensor (radams67)
Just found a thread on similar codes (thread did not turn up on previous thread). I am checking the ECM/ Cruise control 15 amp in drivers aside dash box and passenger side dash fuse box 20 amp LAP heater fuse.
Any other help would be useful. Especially which O2 sensor I should buy.

clear the codes and see if they return after a few days...
denso is a good replacement; i got one from eBay for much less than local autoparts stores
back o2 sensor is after the catalytic converter (you'll have to go under the vehicle & follow the downpipe)
but, yea, try resetting the computer to see if the codes don't come back 1st before investing on new parts

Re: (radams67)
Start the car cold, disconnect the O2 sensor plugs, test for power at each terminal and report back with findings please. Do it quick, so get set up in advance please.
Did the light come back on after a drive or two, or did it come back on immedietely?

O2 Sensors
Go to - http://www.densoproducts.com/product...ctCategoryID=2
The parts you need can be located by entering the appropriate information in the boxes as they pop up. There will be 6 boxes to answer in all. In the first box that shows up -- click on Automotive and then the second box will pop up. Enter the info and so on and so forth.
If you have the V6 J30A1 Engine - that part number is 234-4727. If you have a 4 cylinder F23A1 Engine - that part number is 234-4620. If you have a 4 cylinder F23A4 Engine - that part number is 234-9025.
Just in case you have the 4 cylinder but dont know which engine you have, I'll explain.... F23A1 is VTEC and the F23A4 is ULEV VTECH. There is a big difference when it comes to the correct O2 Sensor. Whichever you have, you can tell by looking on the top of the engine -- it's states VTEC or ULEV VTEC in large raised letters. can't miss it.

Re: OBD codes P1166 P1167 - O2 sensor
I have a 2000 Honda Accord Sedan EX 4-cyl. F23A4 ULEV VTEC
I have 190,000 miles on the car.
I just had the P1166 and P1167 check engine light come on. Since the car is so old, I decided to replace both O2 sensors.
I did extensive research and come up with a solution that worked at a cheap price.
Go to the Denso website and lookup your O2 sensor parts (OEM for Honda)
http://www.densoaftermarket.com/catalog/
I went with the OE Style to avoid potential problems with the universal.
For my car it listed 2 Upsteam (on manifold) options.
234-9014 and 234-9025 I researched on the web and b/c my car is an EX in this year it's supposed to be 234-9025. I heard other people purchase the 234-9014 and the engine light did not go away.
For the downstream (catalytic converter) I chose the Denso part number 234-4621 b/c it is OE and I have a ULEV, not SULEV.
After I replaced both sensors and reset the check engine light it did not come back on.
I bought both parts off of ebay
$55 with s/h for the 234-9025 and
$32 with s/h for the 234-4621
It took me about 15-20 minutes to replace both just b/c I had to get the car on jacks to get the one by the catalytic converter. Hope this helps someone.

Re: OBD codes P1166 P1167 - O2 sensor
I have a Honda Accord 2000 ex - Engine Light came on recently and showed 2 codes.
I bought and replaced the following items and problems went away.
Problem with OBD code p1167:
Solution: I follow cxm475's post and bought O2 sensor (part# 234-9025)
I Bought a Denso 234-9025 Air Fuel Ratio Sensor from Amazon for $113
Seems to fix my problem with OBD code p1167 - Thanks
===================================
Code 1457, EVAP system - I found solution from another board
I bought Dorman 911-752 Shut Off Valve for $31.72
This also takes care the code 1457.
These are 2 popular problems with Honda.
Don't go to dealer or repair shop. They may charge you fortune.
