How to remove A/C from 1996 accord
So not only is my a/c non functional do to a siezed wheel, it's taking up valuable space i could use in my turbo setup. I've been searching but i havn't found a write up on how to yank out the system. someone told me i can pull it out from underneath the car if i take out my downpipe, but it doesn't seem like it can fit unless i remove my crossmember which i don't feel like touching (unless that is the preferred way). I'm assuming you can take out the alternator and bring it out from the top but i'm not sure. So has anyone here done this before? I kind of want to do it soon so i can have my downpipe refabricated with ease instead of worrying about fitment.

I messed with mine when it was busted.
Why are you worried about taking out the alternator? If you're doing a turbo setup you should be comfortable doing that haha. My suggestion would be obviously drain the system, then remove the alternator, then remove the AC compressor.

haha i'm worried about taking out the alternator. I just did not know if that was "the" way to take it out. Ya i was going to try and drain it myself but that stuff is lethal so after smarter thinking I decided i'll take it to the getty or something and have them flush the system out. Is there anything else i should keep in mind after removing the alternator?

Take your car to a shop and have them recover the R134. That refrigerant goes for 20$ per lb. at our shop, I'm sure you can get it recovered for cheap. Remove the alternator, and the lines and pull it out the top, remove the lines at the firewall and cap them off. At this point it is "removed", you can remove the rest if you want to, condenser, dryer. Then get your new belt!
