Does any one know if you need a title to buy a 4-wheeler?

I got this guy that wants to trade a dwarf car I own for his 4-wheeler. Do I need one here in Texas?

yes, you should always get a title for anything, or at least a bill of sale to get a new title

Ok, will do. Yeah the guy said he misplaced it and when I had him look for the serial/vin on the 4-wheeler he couldn't find it.

What kind of quad is it? You'll need the title to get it registered. If the bike is worth more than $500 I would not take receipt of it without a title.

I have bought older ones without titles and just gotten bill of sales however a title especially on a newer one which would have one is probably a good idea.

I don't think you have to have a title if it doesn't require a tag. but thats why atv's are so commonly stolen. especially down here. I bought a used 2000 yamaha blaster from a dealer for $650 and did not get a title. The only thing I recieved was some paperwork stating how much I paid them. ?? I don't think I got a title for my dirt bike I purchased new last summer either. just paperwork/bill of sale, terms, etc. ??

get the title...if you don't theres no way to prove its yours and you could get screwed in the long run

Some states dont issue titles with 4 wheelers.
