anyone gone from an 8th gen civic to a fit?
The look of the fit is really growing on me and I am missing the hatchback aspect of my 99 civic hb. I do want to retain gas mileage since I commute 70 miles a day and often 7 days a week. My 07 lx auto is getting me just under 500 miles to the tank @ 39mpg. I still owe about 13k on my car so trading for a fit shouldn't change my payments too much. Performance isn't an issue for me right now because of gas prices. I'd be looking at the 07 5spd sport model.

If you're getting 39mpg from the Civic, keep it.
My 06 Coupe barely got 30mpg so I traded for a Fit.
My avg lately has been around 37 + or - 1 or 2 mpg.
I have gotten up to 44.5mpg but you're doing very well at 39mpg avg.
Save the money and keep the Civic.

The 8th gen automatics have taller gearing than the 8th gen 5-spds, as well as taller gearing than a Fit.
If your commute is mostly highway, you'll likely get *worse* mileage in a Fit.

I don't mind a slight drop in mpg. I would rather have the fit because of the roominess.

What you owe and what you can sell or trade it in for are two different things. Personally I don't think it wold be a good idea. The ONLY reason to get a Fit should be to save money (be it at the pump, payments, or other costs).
Switching may end up costing you more in gas and in monthly payments.

that's really good for a civic.
you have to work hard to get 40+mpg in a fit. hypermiled like a **** today and got 44mpg on a 11 mile trip. it was intense

Civic is definitely more comfy on the highway. Suspension is actually a bit stiff on the Civic IMO, so expansion joints are felt more, but it tracks better in cross winds, is quieter, and more powerful.
Around town, the Fit is way more fun, with its quick steering and high seating position (good visibility). It's really peppy with the 5spd too. Ours gets about 35 just around town, all short trips. On the highway, we've seen as high as 47, but mostly low 40s.

Well, not losing one for the other. My 8th gen Civic is a supercharged SI with 323 hp. Not the best daily driver.
I am currently trying to work a deal on a 2008 Fit Sport so I have a decend Daily Driver once I turn the Toyota over to my son.

I just traded my 07 civic lx coupe in for an 08 red fit sport and I couldn't be happier. There is so much more room and you dont feel so low to the ground. You also don't feel as closed in like i did in my civic, but that is most likely because it was a coupe. I owed 13,900 on my civic and they gave me what I owed and i put 500 down and my payments are at 290...which is only 30 more dollars than what I was paying for the civic lx, and this is with gap insurance included. I couldn' t be happier with the fit. The looks, the room, etc. I would go with it. As long as ur not oweing from ur trade in it is definately worth it.

I almost did the opposite last week. I almost came home in an 08 Si coupe.
BUT...I didn't. I still have the Fit for the moment. I am just awaiting payment from its future owner so I can get the title and sign it over.
