How much does an ambulance cost?

Yesterday morning I woke up in the ER. An ambulance picked me up, and I didn't have a room, just a bed in the hallway. The hospital stay was no more than 5 hours. I don't think they did anything to me.

I do realize I'm an idiot and I'd rather be in the ER than jail.

Does anyone know how much this will cost? I woke up in Northwestern Hospital Chicago.

When I was hit by a car I was transported to a trauma center that was 12 Miles away from the accident scene. Although a hospital was down the block.


I was charged $560.00 It was a per mile rate of almost $50/mile. Plus fuel charge. Mind you this was 10years ago.

When I was in an accident about 3 months ago, they told me an ambulance was on its way. I asked how much it costs and was told $750. I said keep that **** parked, I'll drag my *** somewhere.

aw crap, this was probably my most expensive night of drinking.

I didn't even give them my information, but I did sign the hospital release form. I ran out in a hurry because I had work in an hour. Hopefully they can't find me. This doesn't go on your credit anyway right?

Actually you're right, I do have a problem. My friends were with me but they said I just disappeared. I woke up with about 10 missed calls. They said they figured I took a cab home, since my car was still in the street.

i took a ride in an ambulance when i was hit by a truck. after everything it was like $1500. but that was 7 years ago

I was meeting my buddies at a nearby club, but I was early. I ended up going to a place called Lalo's that serves the best margaritas in Chicago. I used to frequent this place a lot with my old coworkers, so the bartender knew what was up. He was matching every drink.

Tell the hospital you are self pay/student and see what they'll work out. A lot of places will drop your bill a decent amount.

Most hospitals will do payments either way but a lot of them will write off a considerable amount as charity.

I just hope it's not over a thousand. Do they go through your pockets and check your wallet for your information? I didn't even give them my address or phone number.
