Default Trying to put cv axle back in and I see this in the transmission . . .

That's what the cv axle needs to go into and I can move it around with my finger. It does not stay centered so am I screwed? or can I try to use a bar from the other side to keep it centered and pop the cv axle onto it?

vehicle is a 1989 prelude si 4ws with a d2j3 transmission

thanks

It's normal for these for the diff to just walk off center when the axle's out?

can be a pain in the a$$ to get the axles back in sometimes. either get one of your big buddies to force them in or simply push it in and spin until it is in as far as it will go then push in on the axle holding it against the tranny and lightly tap the hub side of the axle with rubber/wooden hammer and the axle will pop right in. make sure to never let the axle hang there. support it with bungees, rope, string, etc

yep. it's like half inch out
can't even take the ****** thing out now. it's a b18b 94-01 engine, s80 tranny, with axle for 94-01 integra; the other side went perfectly fine despite it's a transaxle on that side.

Is the lock ring still on the axle? If not it is stuck in the tranny and needs to be removed first. You will never get your axle back in with that lock ring in the tranny. I've seen a few like that.

Where did the axle come from?

I've seen a few from autozone that werent what they were supposed to be. I think that stuff gets mixed up more than you would thing with people turning in the wrong cores etc.

Post a picture and compare them very closesly.

i've counted the splines, measured the width, all came up the same; the thing doesn't go far enough to reach the gear/teeth inside the transmission. it gets stuck before that. there are like groves in the thing too before it goes to the gear in the tranny. Not sure what that is for, probably for oil to go on it. And to get it out, I lightly hit the metal part of the axle, upwards and pull lightly and it slipped out. The old one goes in and out pretty easy, like it should. I'm almost thinking, I honestly haven't tried putting it in right, like pushing and maybe hitting it up and push at the same time. I just don't understand how it can go in half way and not the rest, it doesn't get bigger to smaller at all.

hit it with a rubber mallet* and wasn't saying the groves are significant; just dunno what they're there for lol. I can take pictures in a bit. And it was purchased from part source. yes I know they're idiots sometimes. Receipt says 1994 integra cv axle passenger so it's right, but maybe he gave me the wrong one? Maybe it's defective? lol idk. I'm gonna bring in my old one and tell him to exact it with a replacement, if not, the only alternative I can think is, somehow getting the boot replaced on my other one cause I miss my car a lot . Is that last option even possible?
