I have a hytech big tube replica on my car now but i also have a ssr street sweaper race header. my question is does any one have this ssr header and how much hp did you net? i'm thinking it should deffenitly make more couse the ssr deletes a.c and power stearing! but i kind of want to keep those couse its still a dailly driver somewhat atleast! whats your thoughts on this header should i keep it or sell it? thanks for your help Click the image to open in full size.

Funny i had the real hytech big tube header but switched over to the street sweeper for the ground clearance, power wise the hytech was a little better on my setup but i love my street sweeper.

Really! whats your setup like? do you mind explaining a bit more, did you make more hp up top with the hytech? how do you feel about ditching the power stearing and a.c? did the ssr colector center to the cat? why do you like the street sweaper better does it have better low and mid range? does it sound better/ quiter? thanks sorry for the ?'s but im curiouse to why you switched. if it were the real version then i would say big tube on a 2.0 or high compression 1.8. but a back to back dyno would be nice
ssr over the fake

no... there is no patent of anything..The truth of the matter is these Chinese copies are built so well and at a fraction of the cost its just very difficult to compete with them..

Ground Clearance wise the SSR will be better, power wise i doubt there is much difference between the 2.

I have both but im ify on using the ssr since i have to remove power stearing and a.c! since ssr says dyno #'s should be real close id like to compare them at the dyno that will answer the question once and for all!

I got it off this guy on craigslist he said he got it from sixsigmaracing.com i contacted them and they say it looks like an old version but most of everything else looks the same.I also think its not a copy couse i cant find any out there when i tried searching the web and it looks real nice perfect micro welds/ fitment so eaither way its a nice header and a damn close rep. that took some skill to copy if you ask me comaring the welds and fitment to my hytech big tube replica the hytech rep. dont come close!

that does change the game up thought. cause if its not made and its just a replica it wont be as easy to sell. and that street sweeper is a good design. by chance did danny tell you how old of a design it was

Well he says "the secondaries steps on the outer tube are usually welded in two sections.. but there is one where it's 1 complete piece i don't recall building any like that", unless its one i made 2 years back! besides that everything else look similar..like i said it might be a very old version"..
i might be mistaking but the outer tube is welded in two sections but i could be mistaking what he means he wants better pics i just have probs downloading new pics heres the outer tube its welded in 2 sections!

Danny, the truth is there is a patent. It's number is D484,513. You even got a letter from John's attorney about it back in 2004 just like me and some others.

John's (Hytech) patent is a design patent and those deal with the "look" of the piece, nothing about the functional desig, i.e. tube diameter, tube length, merge angle, throat size, etc.

Hytech, then with help from another board member associated with a company that markets alot of Honda performance parts, started getting the header built overseas in Asia. Hytech and Endyn started to sell these versions. However, from what I heard, didn't sell enough to make the Asian factory happy. So then the board member who helped forge the deal started importing these headers intot he country through another company. Then other shops here in the states found out where they were being made so they starting importing them also and calling them something else.

I have always wondered if HyTech got anything from all these other shops but I guess not. It's just so hard, time consuming and expensive to fight crap like this that after a while one will just let it go considering we aren't talking about millions of dollars in profits versus say like the music industry.

Having had close to a dozen shops copy my stuff over the years I'm very concerned when anything like this happens in this business. But the customers drive the business, so if the customers just want to buy something cheap some shop, with little to no morals, will fill that void.

Back to this comparison, typerman can you post your graphs between the big tube hytech/copy and the ssr sweeper? I don't recall ever seeing one and I don't recall ssr ever posting a graph comparing their street sweeper to their 4-2-1.

We sell 25-30 4-2-1 headers to every 4-1 for the B18+ engines.

smsp . ftw..
That and the fact if they got word you wanted to take em to court, they'd just pack up shop and hide..
I can honestly say i support true quality brands.. which is why i bought the real thing.. over the replica.
I got a great deal on a 2.0 version of the hytech, couldn't afford your header.. smsp Click the image to open in full size.

Save your money..
Its quite simple to wait, maybe something slighly used will become for sale, or you might end up getting a better deal on things.. Save your money for what you know, for a fact is going to work..
Trust me.. quality will always last.
