Intermittent no start problem

Original owner, 2001 Honda S2000, well cared for, 38K, good battery (new), cables clean & tight, (I was a service advisor with Honda for 23 years and bought this when I left) with an intermittent no start problem. Starts fine first thing, drive for a while and restarts are problematic, sometimes taking 5 or more minutes and repeated pressing of the start button. No noises, no clicks or pops when the button is depressed, nada ~ nothing, then all of a sudden it starts again, no problem. No aftermarket items on car, factory alarm that is working fine. Any ideas? Possibly a list, in order of likelihood, of possible reasons/problems? Thanks in advance...

PS. If you don't have a fix, you best bet would be appreciated (before I start throwing parts at it)
