I have a 2006 F150 Supercrew 5.4L and it' never broken down (knocks on wood). Maybe it was a lemon? How many miles did you have on it?
I've only towed about 2000# with the F150 and through mountain roads and flat highway it got around 16MPG.

I have only owned Fords since high school, and none of them ever let me down untill I bought a new F150
I dont care what kind of crap ford tries to put in their advertising, the f150 is not in the same league as The Toyota. The only people that argue this are the ones that have not driven the new Tundra. Or the Made in America die hards ( that dont realize the Tundra is made in America, most of the F150 is made in Mexico ) Ford needs to put its money into the truck , not into stupid advertising about bed bolts or frame rails.
So here it is, towing an open trailer and my race car, and junk I get 14 to 15 MPG in the Tundra. In the F150 I would get around 11. The Toy has a huge rear gear and 6 speed trans. It has brakes bigger than the F350 . 13 inch Front rotors
Anyone that tries to tell you the F150 is better needs to put their money where their mouth is and own/tow with each for a year. I did.
The New chevy looks pretty badass though and I hear that Dodge will have a great truck coming. I love The Toy for now</TD></TR></TABLE>
Well I've owned a few F series trucks
76 F100 390V8 w/ C6
94 F350 7.3 PSD 5sp
99 F350 7.3 PSD 6sp
01 F250 7.3 PSD 4sp Auto
07 F150 4.2L V6 Gas
and a
07 Exp 5.4L 6sp Auto
I'll disagree with your quality statement, maybe you had a bad one. If you get the trucks up on alift and take a good hard look you'll see why Ford's last. I remember when I got my first hitch installed on my 94 F350. The guy at Uhaul said he hated drilling holes in the Ford frames since it took so long, he said it was cake drilling in the Chevy frames.
Then I hear that the Fords ride worse than the others, well no kidding, they have higher payloads.
Now I will say that Ford doesn't do as well in the mpg department as others.
Also, to anyone looking at buying a truck, yes the diesels gets better mileage but you really need to do a complete cost analysis on gas vs diesel, especially now when a diesel option is $7-8k, plus the maintenance on the new diesels is much more expensive than gas. Don't forget to include the added interest paid ove r the life of the loan if you don't pay cash. You really need to drive and tow a ton of miles to make a diesel worth your while.
You may get 13-14 mpg with diesel vs 10 mpg with gas but you are paying 20-25% more for fuel.

Youre trucks suck</TD></TR></TABLE>
Your grammar sucks.
By the way, I drive a 2004 F150 fleet truck. 5.4L Long bed. I get about the same gas mileage as everyone else with a similar truck. It's not the prettiest thing but it does the job.

Re: best vehicle for towing, aka most mpg (Honda Fan)
toyota 4 runner towing a 1700lb race car with 300lb trailer (aluminum lawn mower trailer) gets me around 15mpg.
If I were to do it over again, I would get a tow vehicle that got good mpg while not towing...daily driving is what it does 95% of the time, so this is important to me.
I would have bought a late nineties tacoma with 4 cyl.
Slow while towing, but good enough.

Re: best vehicle for towing, aka most mpg (mattbatson)
98 Chevy 2500 HD 5spd
hauled this to VIR for expo8... mostly to get tires/tools/tent/etc etc there. next year it's getting packed into the gsr.
i got 9-11 mpg doing 65-75. rarely went below 10 though, even through the mountains.
