Hmmm, I'd be interested in seeing that. I tow smart...I take my time, I let the truck go at it's own pace up hills and "draft" behind semis Your driving style will definitely affect your MPG's while towing.
I highly recommend the Tundra either way...too bad Americans just won't give up their brand loyalty to Ford/Chevy/Dodge. I have a feeling the Tundra won't last a few more years

F150 Strength vs Tundra
go to http://www.fordvehicles.com/thetruthabouttrucks/ and click truth about trucks for the f150 then click "frame and structure".

OK, a little.
p.s., 13 MPG towing "dumb" here with Hemi Durango towing 4500 lbs loaded open trailer, about 70-75 highway without concentrating on mileage. 15 MPG if I tow at 65-70 and/or "following" a semi or other aerodynamic brick.

Re: best vehicle for towing, aka most mpg (DisturbedK24)
Vehicle: 06 Sierra 1500 Crew Cab 4x4, 4.8L w/3.73FD
U-Haul heavy open trailer + EP Civic + tires & tools + 4 passengers (250lbs avg ea) + etc for a week trip. Probably ~6000lbs total hauling.
Montreal to Topeka: 13-14mpg @ 75-80mph, mostly flat lands
Empty U-Haul from Montral to VA, through the Adirondacks and VA hills = 15-16MPG @ 70-75 mph
Same trip coming back with a engineless CRX through the hills of VA/PA to Ohio = 14mpg @ 65-70mph. Then flatlands from Erie to Toronto to Montreal 15mpg @ 70mph.
Hope this helps.

thats actualy exactly what i want, i figured id like to get an idea of everybodys realworld towing, so your recomendation is
aluminum open trailer + truck canopy for whatever parts/crap i want to take with me,

Re: (DisturbedK24)
2006 Tundra crew cab 4x4 towing 1600lb EP car on a single axle steel trailer. Total weight with gear is around 2800-3000lbs.
I get 14-15 towing. Doesn't seem to matter much what speed I go (65-75 is typical). It only gets about 1mpg better unloaded, so the trailer seems to have little effect on the mileage.
Same load pulled by my previous tow vehicle, a 1999 Astro 4.3 got 16-17, but wouldn't hold speed on hills anywhere near as well as the Tundra.

Re: (EMod Civic)
is it possible to tow a car with another car ? I mean, is it thinkable ? On a doly maybe ? I have 0 knowledge about towing, so see me sorry if it sounds stupid !
I know the car used to tow matters in my question, but I dunno, what is safe ? A Subaru STI towing a 2400lbs car (including the dolly) is safe ? dumb ?
thanks

Re: best vehicle for towing, aka most mpg (Bradstard)
2000 Chevy Silverado 2500 (6.0L, 3.73 rear end) pulling a CRX on a HEAVY open trailer. Only mod was a K&N cold air intake, got 13.5 coming back from Topeka to NC. Generally run about 10 over the speed limit.
2002 GMC Yukon, (5.3L, 3.73 rear end, K&N CAI) pulling a 2002 Z06 on a lighter EconoTrailer. Got 13 mpg to and from Atlanta for the DoubleX. Still driving 5-10 mph over the speed limit, but a little more variation in the speed 'cuz the 5.3 doesn't pull the interstate hills as good as the 6.0.

Re: best vehicle for towing, aka most mpg (DisturbedK24)
2007 Ford Ranger V6 4,0 automatic
Open trailer = 4500lb with car and equipment
at 60-65 = 18-19m/G
at 65-70 = 17 m/G
at 75 = 15 m/G
And it`s powerfull enought to pull in mountain. Because of it`s small shape i don`t think that it will be a good idea to pull any closed trailer with it but for an open one it`s perfect.

Re: best vehicle for towing, aka most mpg (SMSP)
I have had the 2006 Ford F150 supercrew, after it broke down the 4th time i traded it in for a 2007 Toyota Tundra crew max.
I have only owned Fords since high school, and none of them ever let me down untill I bought a new F150
I dont care what kind of crap ford tries to put in their advertising, the f150 is not in the same league as The Toyota. The only people that argue this are the ones that have not driven the new Tundra. Or the Made in America die hards ( that dont realize the Tundra is made in America, most of the F150 is made in Mexico ) Ford needs to put its money into the truck , not into stupid advertising about bed bolts or frame rails.
So here it is, towing an open trailer and my race car, and junk I get 14 to 15 MPG in the Tundra. In the F150 I would get around 11. The Toy has a huge rear gear and 6 speed trans. It has brakes bigger than the F350 . 13 inch Front rotors
Anyone that tries to tell you the F150 is better needs to put their money where their mouth is and own/tow with each for a year. I did.
The New chevy looks pretty badass though and I hear that Dodge will have a great truck coming. I love The Toy for now

Yeah,Whats the deal with the tailgate, i have heard that people have had problems with them on the Toyota.
Anyone driven the new Silverado yet. I think that is now the best looking truck out

'06 F-150 with the 5.4L & 4.10 gears pulling a 20 ft. enclosed Pace trailer w/2200 lbs Honda Civic + misc crap = most likely 6k or so.
I get in the 9's when towing this setup at 70mph. The truck will not hold overdrive so you have to lock it out. Same setup pulling with my buddies '07 Chevy 2500 gets in the 11's.
Disclaimer: I did not have the weight distribution hitch hooked up in this picture obviously.

Re: (Chris F)
I'm getting 16mpg towing with my Acura SLX. My H5 CRX and trailer weigh a total of <3000 lb. It is rated to tow 3500 lb., or 4500 lb. with a weight distribution hitch.
I take out the rear seats and comfortably sleep in the back.
This is twice the mpg I used to get with my Winnebago, with the same car and trailer.

'07 GMC Sierra with the 5.3L. It pulls a Civic on an 18' open steel deck trailer with some other gear, about 4,500 lbs. It's got a 3.42 gear, so I tow in 3rd gear between 55-60 mph. That gets about 15 mpg.
Unloaded, at 55 mph, the 3.42 and 20" wheels easily average 22-24 mpg on flat highways in Houston, TX.
