i jsut used FELT. jsut cut a small piece to cover the hole and then when mounting the spoiler on the car, make sure that the felt covers the holes. i did it on my car.

I have a gsr and I took off my stock wing. I use to put black tape over the holes because i thought there would be a leak. I've stopped doing that since I discovered that the visible holes does not allow water to get in the car. Now I run the car with the holes uncovered and never had a leak.

I found replacement OEM gaskets for the GS-R wing, will they work for the Type R wing? I assume they will.....

(part # 8 and 9)

the wings west replica works great

all holes are covered and bolts right on no problem

seems like more hassel to use an oem one...when the replica's look identical

No, because the base on the GS-R wing is larger than the ITR wing, obviously because the GS-R wing covers the extra holes while the ITR wing does not.

How could a replica possibly look identical to an OEM ITR wing, and yet cover the extra holes, when the OEM ITR wing does not cover the holes?

A bit of a fallacy there. The only way for a wing to cover all the holes on a GS-R decklid is if the bases are larger than an OEM ITR wing, which would mean it would not look identical. If I had to guess it would probably look a bit funky with big, fat supports.

yeah your going into way farther dept then i'm willing to argue about

do more work...not hurting me any

just suggesting that the replica looks like an ITR wing to someone who doesn't have a tape measure on them to measure if its a real deal

Information was posted above you. But if you're installing an ITR wing on your GSR you need to choose a method to cover the 1" hole. I chose to use electrical tape because my car is garaged and doesn't see sun very much. In other instances it'll probably be best to weld it shut as some people have done. But other than that it's very easy to bolt up to your GSR hatch, as it only requires 4 ten mm nuts to attach the ITR wing

Wow. Using the plug from the engine bay doesn't really look bad. you wouldn't really notice it unless you have a trailer queen or something. Say, nobody's asked this yet... is installing the RS or LS third brake light in the inside the car difficult at all?

Haven't posted on H-T in 5 months and then you bring a 2-year old thread back from the dead?

If your car had an OEM wing originally, then you have to basically tape a 3rd brake light into place inside the glass, whether it's the LS/ITR light, or do like me and stick the OEM wing's LED strip inside the glass with 3M emblem tape. It's been in there for over 9 years and has never moved or come off.

<-- wingless for nearly a decade

Great first post. Unfortunately 2011 means that nobody's replied in a year, and nobody cares anymore.

Actually what he said makes sense, regardless of wether anyones posted in a yr this method hasnt been brought up yet in this thread. Now someone can use this method versus making a new thread on, "Any better or permanent ways to cover the holes?" This website is for info. Not wether someone cares about that info.

Since JB weld is a paste I'd like to see you booger up a 1" diameter hole with it. You might as well use body filler at that point. It would be just as permanent, but wouldn't take nearly as long to cure.

I've done this several times before. White nylon plugs with a bit of clear silicone around the edges before you install them is the way to go. Easy, cheap, and not permanent in the event that you decide you want the gsr wing back.

If you want permanent and don't have a welder, pay someone $20 to weld the hole up for you. End of story.
