Haha you pay someone to do that

Maintenence = the suggested Honda stuff, less oil changing

Like timing belt, water pump, etc

And mileage? Any CEL's any other problems?

Does it go away once the engine gets good and warmed up?

It's either a loose valve or piston slap.

Then again, it could be worn out bearings in an accessory drive.

Loose valve can be easily remedied, piston slap is going to mean rebuild.

How much do you have tied up in this little car? If it were me, and I had less than $1000 in it, I'd just drive it until it finally died, but if I wanted to fix it, I'd go buy a junkyard motor, rebuild it, then switch 'em out one weekend.

You could "just get by" by going with a heavier weight oil, (10W-30 to 10W-40) and see if that helps it but you would just be prolonging the inevitable.

I found that putting 10w30 in at the last oil change has quieted my car (1992 Accord) considerably. I figure that after 168k, things would be worn enough to warrant a thicker oil.

Change that timing belt! It's an interference engine!
