Default Problem With New Cobalt GTS Pad Install?

Well prepping for EXPO8, I installed new Coblt GTS pads on my 01 ITR abourt 150 miles ago and they don't seem to be seated properly. It looks like only about 50% of the pad is contacting the rotor. I bedded the pads close to what they recommend. They also squeek like hell after the pedal release for 50 to 100 feet. The rotors are new as well. Rotors seem to be fine as there is no wobble or indication of warpage. Take a look at the pics below and tell me what you think. Thanks.

hows the bite? they look like they are hardly touching? any wheel bearing "play"? my GT Sports used to make a ton of noise under normal driving off the brakes. I had a bad wheel bearing with a lot of play and the pads were just riding the rotor. replaced the bearing and most of the noise is gone. those look to me like they need to be bedded some more. 70mph-0 HARD on the brakes.

I think there was just a bad batch of pads made by Cobalt.....Mine did the samething, finally after 2000 road miles and 150 hard track miles, they are finally using all of the rotor. Granted I was only having the problem on one side, looked the exact same.

a couple good really hard stops will get those pads fully seated.....if not, it may take a a hundred miles or so...and they will eventually wear unevenly- will still perform good though

I agree... Bed them harder/more.

you should get good contact after some hard bedding.

After going thru 3 sets of GTS's. You REALLY have to bed these hard. Don't be shy about it.

I would get up to about 60-70mph and hit the brakes HARD until I get down to 5mph. Then do it all over again. Took about 5 to 6 go's to get them in there. The squeaking should go away after the pads are worn down a bit.

Are you locking the tires up? Because this will not bed in brakes.

Yeah, my first track event this year really helped out with the squealing. They sounded like a dump truck braking before. I had some smoke screen ish going on too

Then explain the smoke pouring out. I'm curious to know how/why they are doing this.
