Fiberglass in Newports

Has anyone heard of this myth? ive heard it applied to pretty much all menthols but mostly newports but every article ive seen says its just another urban myth
supposedly they put fiberglass in the cigarettes to cut up your lungs and make you absorb more

I was just wondering if anyone else has heard of this? or maybe seen a good article proving one way or the other

All filtered cigarettes have fiberglass in the filters, Newports just got a bad rap for it, if you smoke any cigarette enough it will shred your throat at least once a year. That being said, Marlboro smooth FTW.

Yeah i knew about the filters just keep hearing stories from people of how they coughed up blood because the fiberglass in the cigarette cut up their lungs and ****

I'll say again, there is no fiberglass in the cigarette itsself, Newports do have a rough cut of tobacco but once again, if you smoke any cigarette enough it'll cut up your throat.

I've heard the fiberglass myth with regard to Skoal and such but not in the filler tobacco of cigarettes.

It's an urban legend. The reason people experience throat/lung bleeding when smoking menthols is because it's easier to smoke/inhale more when the taste is so "cool".

recently when i blow my nose there's blood coming out of it. It's never happened in the 5 or so years.

The tobacco product you really need to worry about in regards to fiberglass is chewing tobacco though.

Actually, cigarette filters are typically made from cellulose acetate - a rather harmless material (except that it is non-biodegradable - including in the lung). But seriously, the filter should be the VERY LEAST of your concerns when it comes to the dangers of smoking.
