Default How to remove Factory Stereo on 2004 Accord EX V6

I have been looking everywhere for a how-to article or a diagram pdf on how to take out the stereo on my '04 Accord. All I can find is how to get to the underneath and that's not gonna do it for me.

I need to take it out entirely to get to the antenna plug and plug that into my HD radio plug-in. Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

I'm sure you can get the antenna in the kick panel or behind the glove box...

However, you need a pry bar to get the radio out.

Pry GENTLY from the right hand side, and it'll pop right out.

But seriously... Search harder next time...

In some (if not most) vehicles, there's not a continuous line from the antenna to the deck.

The antenna line usually terminates at the kick panel, or in back of the glove box, then there's a short run from there to the radio.

I don't know if your car is like that, but it's worth checking out... Drop the glove box, and peek behind.

Looks like the antenna goes from the amplifier module into another box of some sort, then out to the radio via a harness?? Not too sure...

i haven't tried prying out the vent compartment yet...haven't had time. i bet if i get that ok, it should just be a couple screws and wah-lah...

i do wonder, i've heard it's not the standard motorrolla plug for the antenna, any idea what it should look like?

You're correct. You'll need a forward & reverse antenna adapter as well, if the unit you're installing has the normal Motorola ends on it.

You'll need these: (sorry, don't know the part numbers; got these pics from Crutchfield)

How is the vent above the redio removed? I inserted a flat head scrrewdriver in the hole below the hazard button but nothing happens. The vent does not pop out for leverage. Am I missing a step? Please help.

I am able to remove the gear shift trim, pocket assembly, tray and power supply assembly. Unfortunately, I am unable to remove the radio because of the vent.

Thanks

Just hit up metraonline.com and look up your car. Then when it shows the dash kits, click on one.. on the next page hit "product instructions" or whatever below the picture.. its the install guide in PDF form. It will show you pictures and text
