Ok my d16a6 runs and drive ok but when i am slowing down and getting ready to stop and push in the clutch the rpm drops down to like 700rpm or less and the oil light dims and some time comes on. And does it when it idles under 900rpms is that normal or is that a bad pump i wish i had the oil press gauge i am getting one shortly.

Yeah, you need the gauge, that's the only way to know for sure if the pump is going bad. It is not normal for the oil light to come on at 700RPM.

ok i get it in a couple of days i wont drive the car till i get that installed. I am running a minime vtec setup and i have no oil jet in the top of the block i dont think that is causing it after the rebuild the car ran ok but now that oil light is getting kinda scary. One more question can i rebuild the oil pump.

I think before getting a gauge or pump, try replacing the oil pressure switch. Its right above the oil filter, and it needs a 14mm deep socket (if I remember correctly). Just change it while you change your oil, so you dont have the filter to deal with (and oil).

I'd check the sensor, get a oil pressure gauge (good idea for any modified car anyway), and if both of those indicate low oil pressure, make sure there's no crud in the pickup or lines, then look into a new pump. If you don't replace you oil regularly, it might be what Castrol would call "sludge buildup"

Have any of u guys heard of rebuilding the oil pump can that be done. And i did swap out that oil sensor for a low milage 70K zc dohc sensor cuz my old one had a little oil drip on the bottom so i just got the other one. So i dont think it that sensor i will buy the gauge. And what psi should it be at 900 and up i heard some thing around 20-30psi for idle right. It should increase from there on at least a little

i went to drive my 90 crx si bone stock and as i was leaving the drive way the oil light came on and wouldnt go back out. so the first thing i did was check the oil level and its perfect. then i backed it back up into the drive way and it started whining really bad so as soon as it stops raining here i am gonna have to mess with it hopefully its not the oil pump but with my luck it will be lol.

mine isnt on all the time but flickers at times at lower rpms. I don't beleave it did this before i think one problem for me is its not tuned and my mapsensor is out alot and that causes the rpms to drop so sudden and that when it flickers. But i am looking at a new one to buy i would hate for it to f*uck my built motor. and i am a week-two from tuning.

What if i pulled the pan off and adjusted that spring that would increase oil pressure and that would get rid of my problem.

How The Oil Pressure Circuit Works (straight from in.honda.com)
The oil pressure indicator light works in two ways: it flashes continuously following a momentary loss of oil pressure, or it goes on and stays on with a complete loss of oil pressure. When the engine first starts, before oil pressure rises above 4.3 psi, voltage is applied to the oil pressure indicator light and the oil pressure switch to ground. This tests the bulb. With the engine running, voltage is applied at the WHT/BLU wire of the integrated control unit. With normal oil pressure, the oil pressure switch is open and the oil pressure indicator does not go on. If the oil pressure switch closes momentarily (more than 0.5 seconds) but then opens again, the YEL/RED wire at the integrated control unit will sense ground through the switch. The integrated control unit will then provide and remove ground for the oil pressure indicator light through the YEL/RED wire. The light will flash on and off until you turn the ignition switch off. The flashing feature will not work until 30 seconds after the initial voltage is applied to the WHT/BLU wire of the oil flasher unit. This delay avoids unnecessary indicator light operation. If engine oil pressure falls below 4.3 psi and does not increase, the oil pressure switch will stay closed. The oil pressure indicator light will go on and stay on. How To Test Oil Pressure (from in also) If the oil pressure warning light stays on with the engine running, check the engine oil level. If the oil level is correct: 1. Connect a tachometer. 2. Remove the oil pressure switch and install an oil pressure gauge. 3. Start the engine. Shut it off immediately if the gauge registers no oil pressure. Repair the problem before continuing. 4. Allow the engine to reach operating temperature (fan comes on at least twice). The pressure should be: Engine Oil Pressure: Oil temperature: 176°F (80°C) At Idle: 70 kPa (0.7 kg/cm2, 10 psi) minimum At 3,000 rpm: 350 kPa (3.5 kg/cm2, 50 psi) minimum If oil pressure is within specifications, replace the engine oil pressure switch and recheck. If oil pressure is NOT within specifications, inspect the oil pump (page 8-9 and 10). This is for an 86 integra (i work at acura) but i imaging it should be pretty close. also, for every oil pump ive replaced, ive replaced 10 pressure swtiches for this problem. FYI.

mine did the flashing oil light whenever i jus got through got down the interstate and i jus got off the exit. turns out the filter i used was restricting oil pressure, ever since then i made to sure to goto the dealership and get a honda filter
jus throwin that out there

just my 2 cents.. probably the sending unit, but i put a autometer electronic gauge on my integra and when i crank it i get 75psi of pressure and once the car is warm and cruising down interstate it will drop to around 25ish, but goes back up when i get on it. also yes i strongly believe the filter can effect or cause pressure problems. everyone and there mamma was telling me to use or try a wix filter, i put one on, drover 10 minutes and then my oil light came on (this was before i had a gauge), so i killed it, cranked back up and no light, i went home and through that pos wix away and have used blue honda filters ever since.
